Just to those who want to know the link posted below are the people who designed and built the Tundra Trek. This company may not be the only ones on site but they have been various times when I have been there.

Looks like that have done a varity of nice things including the Niagra Aviary, Bass Pro Shop, and Aquatica Seaworlds Water Park!

UCC GROUP INC.

Does anyone know the total area of the polar bear exhibit in the Tundra Trek along with the rest of the exhibits.

I know the total, I e-mailed the zoo to see if I could get the exhibit areas. The African Savanna is not even close to 10 acres. Its closer to 40 acres.

In the visitor's guide it said that the Tundra would be around 10 acres. How big approximatly was the old african savanna? It got redone shortly after I was born, so i can't remember anything, and we don't have many pictures of it. I only know (from very few pictures) that the old lion exhibit was not very big or savanna looking. Thanks!

I was at Bio-Camp today and we saw Aurora and Nikita in the maternity den. They seemed to be really happy even though they were only in a small part of their exhibit. They are allowed into the main part of the exhibit once daily to warm them up for Aug 1!!!!The wolf exhibit is complete and the reindeer exhibit is almost finished. The grass is all grown in, in the main part, and the only thing thats left is to put in some trees and then the animals!!

Can not wait for opening day! Still dissapointed about the arctic fox exhibit.

Sorry to ask but what happened to the Arctic Fox exhibit???
The workers have begun to put together the whale skeleton in the tundra.

Great news to here! I am so excited. As far as I know the Arctic fox exhibit hasn't been cunstructed yet. So I think the zoo may finish it after opening, although I do think the Arctic fox will be on exhibit for opening. I am sure they will have there new exhibit in time.

Well I emailed the zoo about a week ago and have now gotten a reply. I asked if there will be any information about the second phase Eurasia in the upcomming Collection Magazines.

Here is the answer:
After the Tundra Trek, the next phase is the Canadian Wilderness/Eurasia re-development. We are currently in the detailed design phase which will be completed at the end of 2009 or early 2010. The construction of the project is dependent upon funding and a significant portion of which is still to be fund raised. Therefore, the timing of the construction is unknown at this time.

This is great news as I was wondering when this project would get off the ground, did you happne to ask how large scale this is going to be?

No I didn't ask that, I assume it will be large because its combining both Eurasia and the Canadian Wilderness. So probably very large scale, it will require for the closure of all Eurasian exhibits. So they can rebuild Eurasia and make way for the Canadian Wilderness exhibits.

Wow, its gonna suck not seeing Eurasia for another 2 or 3 years but its for a good cause

Or longer if they arn't doing constructions in sub-phases. But you have to wait to see world class exhibits!

Thats probably why no TZ buffs are on right now, there probably all at the member night
