I'm trying to find the one newspaper that had articles earlier than 1985 but can't seem to find it. There were mentions of a wolf escape' between the attack back in the late 80s and this the zoo seems to have had bad luck with them in the past! There was mentions of the opening of the lion enclosure that now houses the hyenas and more about Brum.
 
I was just wondering why the Gila Monsters in the Americas pavilion and many other exhibits are closed off? They gila monster exhibit has been closed for almost 5 months and the aquariums for almost 2!
 
Really Cause I went in early December and then again in January and the were off exhibit! They have been every time I go. Which is about once a month!
 
The gila monsters have been off exhibit for many months now ... because they are no longer at the zoo. (Meaghan, you may be thinking of the beaded lizards?). The "marine room" in Americas is undergoing maintenance, and hence all of those aquaria are empty.
 
Meaghan must have been on LSD that day. Girl I'm going to the zoo with you from now on!!

Beaded Lizards, that's what they were. Thanks for the clarification :) I need to sharpen up on my reptillian knowledge.

I am assuming that same goes for the Rufus Banded Owls? They are at another facility correct? Ungluate do you know when Savanna is due?

Thanks for posting the additional photos. The panda was especially interesting!

Regarding your questions, Savannah the sable antelope is due ... well nobody really knows! She was bred throughout the summer, and has started showing some udder development, but it could still be weeks before she gives birth.

There is still one rufous-banded owl at the zoo; she lives off exhibit in the Mayan temple at the moment. I am not sure what the plans are for that exhibit.
 
I am sorry if this has been covered before but which zoo did the Dall's Sheep at the zoo go, as well as the capybara?
 
The Dall's sheep went to Grouse Island Park Zoo in Manitoba.
The capybara were "phased out through attrition" ...
 
Attrition: A gradual, natural reduction in membership or personnel, as through retirement, resignation, or death.
 
oh, so they basically just naturally died out like the seals are doing? That reminds me, how is Rosi doing, I remember she really liked Timo
