There has been talk of phasing the hyenas out in favour of wild dogs, but it looks like the species is here to stay. I believe breeding will be possible; the hyenas are unrelated and have not been neutered.

I've not heard anything recent about pandas OR penguins, although it is fairly certain that the seal exhibit will be used for the latter (after some renovations which may happen this year, if Rosi moves in time).

Other news: Jahe the orangutan leaves next week for Memphis (with a quarantine stop in St Louis on the way).

I'd love to see baby hyenas! :D The last time I saw one was an ear of a cub at the Buffalo Zoo. It'd be also cool if the zoo could have both hyenas and wild dogs, it'd be neat to see the comparison between the two and another misunderstood carnivore may garner more interest and support for the public too :)

I was wondering when Jahe was going to be moved. I wish her the best of luck with everything!

Just wondering what happened to Timo and Winnie. Glad to her we might be getting some new animals but there is alot of animals on the phase out list, kinda of scary makes me wonder what AZA is up to, but then I have to trust they know what they are doing

Winnie was euthanized in February 2008 due to a tumor in her spine which wrecked her walking ability

Timo passed away after eye surgery

Ah, Meaghan you beat me too it! Yes in fact they are and should be on exhibit soon!

The African Rainforest Pavilion looks really good!

Carousel should open in early June!

ATTENTION!

I WOULD ADVISE THAT ALL TORONTO ZOO FANS GO TO THE STINGRAY BAY EXHIBIT! HORSESHOE CRABS ARE ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!

I sooo can't wait to see them! And I'm also excited all the more about the African pavilion reopening. Particularly I'm most excited about the Duikers. I've never seen them in person.

Duikers will be apart of a new exhibit in the African Rainforest Pavilion!

Didn't someone mention that the Duiker were going to be in the Nile Softshell Turtle Exhibit along with the turtle itself in a mixed exhibit?

I did, however I have gotten a closer look at the plans and I don't think that they will be together anymore.

Care to share a link to these plans? if you have one:) lol.....or if possible post in the proper thread with a description of what it appears we will be seeing:)
(sorry i may seem pushy lol)
Zack

You don't seem pushy just eager which is like me! I actually don't have a link I saw them in print.

It is really hard to explain I just glanced at the plans. I guess we will have to wait until the fall... sorry

this is going to be awsome. all these changes will make the zoo the best zoo ever!!!!!!!!! Cant wait for the new arfica pavillion.
