Alrighty guys! Here is a few updates:

Arrivals:
- If it hasn't been mention 2 new hyenas are in quarantine
- 1.1 Emus released from quarantine. New to the zoo?, anyone know what happened to the old ones?

Deaths:
- 1.0 Orangutan "Molek" died from kidney failure

Oh no, R.I.P Molek :(

Wonder if they will acquire another breeding male?

RIP, gentle giant Molek :( I remember he used to play hide and seek with me. He'd hide his face then take a peek when I was turning my back away.

I just read the press release from the zoo about Molek.....may he rest in peace by the way. I did however notice that they list 7 other orangs, are any of them able to breed? Is there a reason that for as long as i can remember i have only ever seen 3 on exhibit?

Is there a reason they all can't go out together? Is the exhibit not big enough for them? terority an issue between the group?

Ramai and Puppe don't get along, and Ramai and Sekali are inseperable so the groups are usually

Group 1
Puppe and her son Budi

Group 2
Sekali and her son Kembali
Ramai and her daughter Jingga

SOMETIMES Puppe and Sekali are together, but not often

I believe the group is no exhibited together as a whole, the last time I was there they had all orangs together trying to introduce them...?

RIP Molek. He was definitely one of my favourite animals at the zoo. He will be missed.

I went yesterday, and I hadn't heard the news yet, but his sign was down of the "meet the Orangs" board infront of the exhibit. I thought they might have been updating up, but sadly not.

In the article I read, the zoo still has a large stock of Molek's sperm for artificial reproduction in the future.

Sadly on Thursday morning Rengat the Sumatran Tiger passed away.:(
He was around 17 years old and was the father of multiple cubs. He will be greatly missed. R.I.P

Also, the pair of new Hyenas are extremely different from our old hyenas. They are very vocal and much more instinctive.

The pair of new emus are much more active than the old ones. They were walking on the visitor pathways creating little road blocks.

Tori the new baby Zebra is quite the lazy animal, but she might also be one of the cutest!!!:)

RIP, Rengat. You were magnificent, even in recent years when your teeth were worn down.

I've got to go down there and check out their baby zebra and new hyenas and new emus!

:( That's so incredibly sad- I remember going to the zoo when I was a kid and we'd always go to see her/the troupe...my sincerest condolences to the zoo and staff!

Well at the zoo today and noticed we have 2 new Capybara on display, I guess they made it out of quarantine alright, and they are now back on exhibit in the Mayan Temple Ruins.
