Does anyone know why the zoo is refusing to answer inquiries about the polar cub? I get that sometimes they don't want to share just in case something goes wrong - but since the public already knows that two died and the other lived, why not share the news?

I wondered as well why I have heard no news about the surviving polar bear cub. Perhaps the zoo is more discreet now with information about their animals due to the elephant controversy.

If you go to google news and type it "Toronto Zoo" there is a headline there, unfortunately the article does not open but apparently the cub will be out on display in a few weeks!

Such excellent news! Thank you for letting us know! The zoo staff should be so proud of their accomplishments!

Looking forward to seeing the new little guy out and about!

The zoo is also going to be aquiring a pair of Steller's Sea Eagles, along with Red-capped cardinals, Peter’s twinspots, Green aracari, up to 3.1 black duiker, (12) Eastern box turtles (for the Kid's zoo), (50) Wood turtle hatchlings for headstarting and recovery and 1.2 young African lions.

Interesting that it says that they could get up to 3.1 Black Duikers when the LA Zoo currently only has 2.3 according to ISIS. ISIS also shows Toronto as having 2.0, so maybe they will be getting only one female to pair with one of the males.

I believe these are updates as I know, there are signs up for the Black Duikers, as well as the Green aracari, so its possible that some are already at the zoo... I know for a fact that some of those turtles have arrive over 6 months ago. The lions by the way (Pantera leo krugeri) are white lions

And steller's sea eagles, impressive! I am very excited, what this means is that the Eurasia plans are going through! WOOT!

I also stumbled upon the fundraising logo, "Wild for Life" I personally like it, this info is on the same page posted above, along with other interesting stuff, including the Black and White Gala

I'm really excited about the eagles, too. I wonder where they will be in the new Eurasia?

Do you happen to know where the lions are coming from?

Oh, that's good! I too would love to see cubs again at Toronto. It's been a decade since there were some. I assume Lindy and Jerroh are staying.

I would assume so too Meaghan, but I know there has been issues brought up with the lion exhibit and how its too small for 4 lions, now that we are bringing in 3 more adult lions that are able to reproduce? I am really not sure what exactly is going to happen. Will they introduce all the lions together? That would be a cool idea but then again who knows what will happen...

Yeah it'd be neat to have a full pride but maybe a renovation of the enclosure is in order? I think they have space they can use behind the lion enclosure to expand into.

Its possible, but no money has been allocated towards that.

I don't believe they are anymore; I know a number of the females (if not all) were spayed as there was an episode on Zoo Diaries that showed this. The last time there was a litter was sometime in the early 2000s.

It appears we are down to one impala, per ISIS. :(

Does the zoo plan to a breeding group for the arctic wolves and are the arctic foxes a breeding pair, I forgot if they are siblings or not?

Is there any news on the female Sumatran tiger that is suppose to be coming in?

Thanks!

Apparently the lions have arrived...

Interesting that a newspaper article should publicly complain about info they cannot get or zoo staff do not wish to comment on as yet. I find it a rather obsolete piece of journalism, jingoistic and not at all newsworthy to even bother to put to paper (other than the ego of the reporter has been severely damaged :D).
