The keepers won't officially confirm a pregnancy (in case something goes wrong), but based on how big her belly is, yes she is expecting. She was also recently separated from the male.

Shani (female Grevy's zebra) is also expecting and is due sometime in September. Not sure if the father is Shaka or the new male.

One of the peahens currently has 4 very young chicks.

The spotted necked otters are not breeding due to medical issues with the female.

The keepers are most likely holding back on releasing any pregnancy information especially because Abou, the female, has lost calves in the past and has never had success as far as I can remember
 
@greendottie yes she is, have you seen her? If so can you post a picture and how tall does she stand cause I do know they can be very tall.

I was so confused and sad when I was at the zoo recently. Hamlet was off exhibit and there was no sign for him there any more. From the article in the star, it sounds like he's just going to be permanently off exhibit since he's one of the oldest Wombats and so it's time for retirement at the Animal Health Centre.

I'm proud of the zoo for getting the young breeding couple. I knew it was difficult to get Wombats out of Australia but I had no idea that there was only 9 in North America and 3 of them are going to be at Toronto Zoo!
 
I dont know if this is true but I saw on the zoo's facebook page today someone saw the baby pygmy hippo just minutes after its arrival. Like I said i dont know if this is true so has anyone on here heard or seen anything? I've put off a zoo visit in recent weeks half hoping I might get to see the baby if i was lucky and patient. Hope one of you more knowledgable members know something.
 
Abou the pygmy hippo gave birth in the early morning yesterday to a live calf. It was born in the indoor red river hog exhibit/2nd pygmy hippo exhibit where the small pool was drained (Pygmy hippo give birth on land, young don't swim very well as newborns).

The staff is trying to remain as hands-off as possible right now (Abou has had a few unsuccessful births before) so they have remained on exhibit and the pathway is (was anyways) blocked to mininmize disturbance.

This is the zoo's first pygmy hippo calf born since 1999 and (as of right now), the pair's only ever successful calf
 
Awesome thanks for the upade zoogoer. I knew someone would know something. Heres hoping the calf is healthy and can become the Harvey and Abou's first survivor.

Although not currently living at Toronto Zoo, Toledo's male giraffe "Mowgli" (a Toronto born giraffe) has been euthanized

Born to Twigga and Stripes in 2000, some may remember Mowgli's birth being featured on an early episode of Zoo Diaries (and subsequently, his post-birth exam in the next episode)
 
The baby pygmy hippo has been brought to the health unit as it was not getting enough milk. The pathway has been re-opened and both adult pygmy hippos are on display.

The pair of helmeted guineafowl in the African Rainforest Pavilion have at least 12 recently hatched chicks.
 
Poor little hippo. Hope they can have the same success with him or her that they had with Hudson. If it makes it, we'll probably have to wait a couple of months to see it out on exhibit. Does anyone know if its a boy or girl?

The pygmy hippo calf, a female, has been pulled for hand-rearing due to the fact that Abou (the mother) would not/did not know how to allow her to feed
