A sable antalope died and when did the reindeers die?

The reindeer calves were euthanized in May

I thaught they were going to go to Bomonville zoo? Cause there are babies still at the zoo, I saw them?

why were they euthanized?

I believe it was just one reindeer that was euthanized. It was a population control on this year's calves - there were already two surplus males in holding that no other zoo was willing to take, and it was predetermined that any males born would be euthanized to prevent them from leading a similar life. There was quite a public outcry after the Toronto Sun published a sensationalist article ...

I mean the ones that were euthanized because they were male, remember, back in May.

Ya,those are the ones. There was alot of media surrounding that situation

Thanks for the newspaper correction.
Yes, the Bowmanville Zoo agreed to take the two (older) males, and perhaps also the rest of the male calves from this year (maybe?). There were several females born as well.

We have seemed to have alot of rhino deaths in the past few years with Bull,Indira,Pistol and Yeki

There does seem to have been a lot of rhino deaths :( When did Pistol pass on?

Shame about the Sable, they're my favorite antelope, tied with the Kudu.

Im just guessing she did as they had four rhinos but now only Shaboola is there

Because at one point we had Pistol,Bull,Shaboola and Yeki but then I don't know what happened to Pistol (I suppose she died).I hope they get maybe another female and a male to start a breeding herd?

Pistol died in 2001.
The fourth rhino who lived at the zoo recently was "Leni". She was moved back to African Lion Safari earlier this year.

Timo the fur seal

I am sad to report that Timo, the zoo's male South African fur seal, passed away this past week during recovery from eye surgery. He was almost 17 years old, and arrived in Toronto in 1999 from the Antwerp Zoo in Belgium.
