Glad the dholes look like they're going to stay :) They're probably my favorites.

I wonder if any part of the hospital will have public viewing windows? I think that'd be neat.

Unfortunately, that probably will not happen, although that would be neat, what I heard is that they are expanding it a bit and putting a second floor on the current hospital.

This is another example of the TZ not understanding it's visitors. Of course it would be very cool if part of it was open to the public. Just like seeing how they prepare the food for the animals would be cool.

One day I hope the TZ is privatized and not run by City Councillors who are only interested in getting their freebies at the expense of the TZ and its animals, staff and visitors.

Actually the way that the zoo is laid out would be the reason the public would not be able to see into the Operations Complex. The major road runs south of the Complex which stops the public from gaining access. I believe it has nothing to do with the TZ not understanding visitors.

I was at TZ yesterday, kinda rainy but OK nonetheless.

Nothing really new except that there is a new Tree Shrew on display in the Indomalayan Pavilion in the exhibit adjacent to the Prevost's Squirrel on the Orang observation deck. It is in the old Orb Weaver exhibit.

Also, the insect exhibit in Malayan Woods is filling up. There is a new Mantis and a new scorpion.

Primate Wing is reopened. New Glass instead of wire are at the exhibit fronts and the plants that were in front of the exhibits are now gone and you can get even closer to see inside. However, the Sloths and their sleep boxes were not there/removed as well as the Grey Wing Trumpeters and Agouti.

Does the zoo have Agouti now? When did we get them?

I am glad there is glass now better photo opportunities!

They were on the front White Board at the entrance under America's Pavilion for Off Diplay as were the trumpeters. There were signs for both I believe on the Exhibits with the Trumpeters being with the Golden Tamarins and the Agouti being with the Sakis.

There weren't any signs for the sloths though like their were before....maybe their moving them all together to another spot??

Well I know we have the trumpeters and sloths but Agouti the zoo has not had for approx. 2 years but do not quote me on that.

They may be slowly introducing them back into the exhibits?

Very interesting! Thanks for posting these. I'm especially excited to hear about the duiker/turtle exhibit. I also have a thing for toucans and the like, so I'm looking forward to seeing them too. I love cardinals too and we could never have too many turtles, especially with the conservation program.

I wonder what's up with the lion safety barrier? I hope someone didn't try something stupid . . .

Just got back from the Zoo today, here are some updates:

--New Baby Aoudad was on exhibit. Really, REALLY, young. Its ear wasn't even tagged yet.
--New Baby Olive Baboon was on Exhibit.
--In the Camel yard (between the old Reindeer exhibit and the current Red Panda Exhibit) there is a new camel on display. It is a Dromedary Camel. There is only one, but it is definitely not one of the current Camels as it has one definitive hump.
--Funny you mention the Caracals moving Quartz, as they were off display and there was a sign stating renovation in the exhibit

Haha :D Thank you! I'm pretty sure the porcupine was another old school species, and the duiker was originally planned when the gorilla area was redone.

Really? Neat to know. I remember seeing the porcupines somewhere else and I found them so neat, however they were in a small indoor exhibit! I wonder what their future exhibit will be like, outdoors for sure!
