Hope you enjoy your visits . I visit Manor House , Folly Farm and Cefn-yr-Erw most years but have only once been to Borth quite a while ago .

The Silent World collection - aquarium , reptiles and amphibians , inverts. -at Tenby is also interesting and I always enjoy a visit to it .

I will be interested to hear what you think of the collections . I will probably go to FF , MH and SW in a few weeks once the school holidays are over and they are quieter for a while .

i've not heard of silent world. Is there any other collections in the area? whats the welsh hawking center like?

I have not been to the Welsh Hawking Centre for a while now . It is on the site of the former Barry Zoo and most of the old enclosures are still there , converted to house birds of prey . There are some photos in the gallery which will give you an idea .

Silent World , Tenby , is based on what was a chapel in the middle of a graveyard ! The aquarium is on the ground floor with the rest upstairs , not very big but some very nice specimens on show and friendly owners .

There is a WWT Centre near Llanelli with the usual collection of ducks , geese and swans plus breeding flamingos , also a large reserve area with good views and lots of wild birds .

Swansea has a large greenhouse called Plantasia which has a small collection including cotton-top tamarins ex-Penscynor , birds , reptiles , fish etc.

Margam Park near Port Talbot has large deer herds including some Pere David's .

Some pictures of Borth Animalarium would be much appreciated, id like to see if it's improved from it's dismal state from a few years back.

you need to go to welsh mountain zoo if you are touring welsh zoos, thats where the zoological society of Wales is based.

Apart from good links from England into South and West Wales ( M4 and A48 ) and into North Wales ( A55) , the Welsh road system is not brilliant , getting from South to North is a slow journey , particularly if you get stuck behind slow vehicles .

I have only once visited the Animalarium at Borth because it would take hours to get there from Swansea .

I have returned from my trip to Wales now...I have had no internet access while ive been away so i am now slowly adding pics to the gallery.

Just added Animalarium Photo set :)

Cefn yr Erw (wales ape and monkey sanctuary)
Pictures now live in gallery

Folly Farm and Manor House to follow :)

Thank you very much for the photos.:) Both the Animalarium and Cefn yr Erw establishments appear to be disaster zones for captive animals, but perhaps many of the inhabitants of the cages at those parks have been rescued from worse fates.

I do agree the enclosures do look poor but most of the animals from both of these collections have been rescued so they are in better homes then they previousley where.
