Eric Sanderson of the Wildlife Conservation Society has reconstructed what Manhattan looked like before humans built a city on top of it. The island had 55 ecosystems full of black bears, wolves, and river otters. Whales and sturgeon swam up the Hudson River.

Pretty interesting article and is a sad reality what happened in New York. But, the most sad thing is that many places will end up like New York in the future, without all the diversity of wildlife they once had.
