On August 15th, 2018, it was reported that (0.0.3) Chilean flamingos were hatched in July (of which one passed away later in the month), as well as a (0.0.1) toco toucan, a first for the facility.

On November 27th, it was reported that Salt Lake County announced plans for a new park on the Jordan River, and is in partnership with the Tracy Aviary to build a new nature center. The facility opened in 2020.

Multiple birds were lost for a period of time and then recovered including a (0.1) common raven named Cash that was found a month later at the attorney general's office in July 2019, as well as two separate incidents revolving around a (0.1) red-tailed black cockatoo named Matilda, which escaped and recaptured in January 2020 and in March 2021 respectively.

"It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Tracy Aviary's beloved "celebirdy" Andy N. Condor. Andy passed away in his sleep early this morning due to natural causes. We are heartbroken but grateful for the time we got to spend with Andy over his 64 years of life (63 of which he spent at Tracy Aviary) and for his work as a bird ambassador, helping to educate people about the vital role vultures play in maintaining healthy ecosystems around the world. Andy enjoyed life until the end, going on countless morning walks around the aviary and interacting with our staff and visitors until the day before his death. We are working on plans on how to celebrate Andy's life best and honor his memory and will announce those in a future post."

Certain species are managed within AZA facilities under a Species Survival Plan, or SSP. Last spring we hatched a clutch of Marbled Teal ducklings, following the recommendations from the SSP coordinator we transfered a few of last year’s offspring to Reid Park Zoo. Want more information about SSP? The goal of an SSP is to have a genetically diverse and biologically sound population within the zoo community. Each SSP is managed by an SSP coordinator. One job of the SSP coordinator is to work with a population biologist to put out a breeding and transfer plan. This plan takes into account the genetics of the animals as well as how many individuals of that species each facility would like to house.
