These are new andean geese, 2 females. We do not currently have any other andean geese at the aviary.
The most baby flamingos the aviary has ever had hatched this year! 3 so far with the possibility of another few in the next few weeks.

Just an update, the new female great grey owl is out of quarantine and has been introduced to the male. Both of these birds are on exhibit in Owl Forest.
The cabot's tragopan, chestnut-breasted malkoha, and white-rumped shama are all done with quarantine as well and are now on exhibit in Rare Birds. The argus pheasant moved into the exhibit where the great green macaws used to be, and now live with the malkoha and shama. The tragopans live in the exhibit right next door with green magpies, where the argus were previously.
Lastly, a new female bananaquit and male troupial have been placed on exhibit in South American Pavilion.

I do wonder a little why they got another green-winged macaw when they already have Rembrandt, who is around a year old already I think.

A new exhibit opened at Tracy Aviary.
The turkey vultures and hawks (red-tailed and Swainson's) have a new exhibit.
No word on what is planned for the now vacant raptor exhibit plus Andy's old exhibit (which has been used to do some flight training for the show birds).

I just posted a couple of pictures of the new Turkey Vulture/Hawk exhibit.
The old turkey vulture/hawk and old condor exhibits are being demolished as they are some of the oldest cages still around at the aviary. Nothing is currently planned to go into this area at this time.
More new stuff on the way for next year also!! Pending construction is on schedule.

I totally vote bearded vulture exhibit. Buuuut that probably won't happen.
Is the king vulture exhibit going to get a make-over? It kinda looks like it has the same structure as the old vulture/hawk/condor exhibit.
The current king vulture exhibit will also be going away, the birds are staying and getting a new home somewhere else in the aviary.

Construction has begun on the new Tropical Building exhibit, adjacent to the front entrance building on a unused spot of land.

Also, construction on the new Avian Health Center is almost finished. This is not open to the public, but the building is located near the flamingos and black-necked swans and can be seen from the visitor pathway.

Construction has begun on a new kea exhibit. I posted photos of some concept art for the exhibit in the gallery. This exhibit as well as two other adjacent exhibits should open in Spring 2018.
Expedition Kea opened about 1 month ago, and is home to 4 kea (3.1). The exhibit will serve as a mate-choice facility, housing juvenile kea and allowing them to pair up by selecting their own mate. Expedition Kea also includes two additional smaller exhibits, one for Australian birds and one for African birds which house 7 bird species right now.
