Tragelaphus Antelope

My favorite set of animals (and I am not entirely sure why) are the animals that are/were classified as Tragelaphus. The Kudu, Nyala, Mountain Nyala, Bushbuck, Bongo, Sitatunga. Anyone know of any good research perhaps scientific papers concerning their taxonomy/evolution. They produce fertile hybrids despite a relatively long time since diversifying. In fact many taxonomists I have seen classify them as belonging to new genus (well at least the Lesser Kudu).

So is the Lesser Kudu considered a basal living fossil? (Being that many consider it diverged since the Miocene). And is there any theory about how and why they diverged so greatly despite sharing basically the same habitats and range?
