I must admit I'm a bit baffled as to why its taking Colchester so long to get cracking on this new exhibit??? Also what speieces will feature here? Finally is the capichin monkey enclosure not going to have work on it until after they've moved?

I was wondering whether anyone knows a bit about exact details (I have Zoo Leopard in mind here;)). Not to discourage anyone else.

Currently Colchester are using the old Orangutan House as a holding area. At the moment it's inhabitants are Scarlet Ibis, White Storks, Hammerkops and Elegant Crested Timanou.

I hadn't realised they had so may birds in here.

I really am not against Colchester having that display there, what I'm more confused on is what's going on in the enclosure adjacent to it?

I cant find any plans that have been submitted so must still be in very early stages! STILL!

Wish they would hurry up and pull down Rajangs old enclosure and get cracking although any orang utan 'forest' knockers can at least see the vast improvement in enclosures.

Speices

I was wondering what new reptiles (especially crocidilans) members wanted to see (particularly those that are endangered). There's nothing new about what's coming in on the website.

If it's supposed to be based on South American fauna, I'd love to see Orinoco & American Crocs, & Black Caiman. But it will probably be just the Cuban Crocs they already have.

Yeah I'm fairly sure it will be just the Cubans. I'v eread through the planning documents and have found that the green anacondas are also planned for the building. Other species incluse the Buffy Headed capuchins (@Goretex: I reckon they will have an indoor area within the building and an outdoor area adjacent), Agouti, Pied Tamarin and Black Lion tamarin. I'm sure there will be others! :D

I see thanks, I guess an impressive underwater tunnel for cubans is sufficiant.

Well on the planning document it says...

"The development hereby permitted shall be begun before the expiration of three years from the date of this permission."

This was signed and given the go ahead on 30th of July 2008. So I imagine they will be starting this winter.
