Tropical forest to close

I am surprised there is another zoo in London which I never heard of it. I know a lot of wildlife attractions around the country and I have visited most of the collections. I find its weird, never knew about the Tropical Forest. It is really sad for them to be forced to close down. Their website looks good although kept a low profile in the zoo community!

I've been there a couple of times - a small, but quite pleasant, tropical house (plus a small outside area) with several crocodilians and what used to be an excellent collection of poison arrow frogs. A large three-toed amphiuma was probably my animal highlight.

The London Butterfly House used to stand next door until it closed at the end of 2007. There were plans to build a new butterfly house in Gunnersbury Park but these fell through and I believe then owners purchased the butterfly house and wildlife park at Long Sutton.

What was once a nice day out for zoo enthusiasts will soon be no more...
