Asian Elephant Billy is now living with all four cows (Tina, Sooky, Booper, and Connie) on habitat at once.
Tulsa Zoo on Instagram: "For more than 70 years, Tulsa Zoo has proudly cared for Asian elephants, and recently, we’ve celebrated some incredible milestones. For the first time in our history, We have two elephant barns with connecting habitats, giving us more flexibility to care for our herd. We’ve had four elephant transfers (Hank, Connie, Billy and Tina) - all part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Asian Elephant Species Survival Plan. We’ve had seven elephants residing here at once - our “Sweet Seven!” And most recently, we reached another milestone: five elephants sharing one habitat space together! In these photos, you’ll see Sooky, Billy, Tina, Connie and Booper, a grouping made possible through months of careful howdies and introductions by our elephant team. Our staff has continued to observe acceptable species-specific behaviors, showing us that these new social opportunities are a positive step for the herd. You never know what social combination you might spot during your next visit!"

4-year-old male White Rhinoceros "Hodari" is moving to another zoo but his new location has not been revealed yet.

Soon, Hodari, will be heading off on a new adventure to another AZA-accredited zoo as part of the AZA Species Survival Plan® for southern white rhinos. Born on November 7, 2021, Hodari was born to mother, Sally, and was the first Southern white rhino calf born at Tulsa Zoo. Watching him grow over the past few years has been such a joy, and while it’s hard to say goodbye, his move plays an important role in helping ensure a healthy, sustainable population for his species. We encourage you to come visit Hodari before he begins his next chapter. : Keeper Chance"

Hodari has moved to the Albuquerque BioPark in New Mexico as a companion an older female rhino.
ABQ BioPark on Instagram: "Did you hear that? Another new face is *crashing* the party just in time for Boo at the Zoo…here’s a hint, a crash is a term for a group of rhinos! Say hello to young Hodari (pronounced Ha-Dar-ee), a southern white rhinoceros who will celebrate his fourth birthday next month. He recently moved to the ABQ BioPark Zoo from @tulsazoo in Oklahoma, a fellow facility accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA). True to his name, which means brave or courageous in Swahili, Hodari is ready to explore the rhino habitat after a brief acclimation period. Behind-the-scenes, he’s been getting along well with Bertha, also a southern white rhino, who has been a Zoo resident since 1998. She will soon be 40 years old, exceeding the median life expectancy for her species of 36 years, and has been preferring to spend her time indoors or in her private area. You can read more about them at the link in our bio under "BioPark News”. We think Hodari is ready to add the New Mexico community to his fan club, come see him on your next visit! The zoo just opened their new 10-acre yard part of their elephant preserve
Tulsa Zoo on Instagram: "For more than 70 years, Tulsa Zoo has been honored to care for Asian elephants. Today, we’re overjoyed to share a truly historic milestone with you: our new 10-acre preserve yard is officially open. This is the final piece of our 17-acre Asian elephant habitat, which also includes the Mary K. and John T. Oxley Family Elephant Experience and the Elephant Preserve Barn. Billy, Sneezy and Sooky were the first from our herd to explore this diverse space. Watching them take those first steps into the preserve was a moment years in the making. From the earliest dreams of our staff who imagined what our elephant habitat could be, to the many donors and voters of Tulsa who believed in that vision and made it possible, we are deeply grateful. Thank you to every person whose passion and commitment helped bring this beautiful reality to life. ❤️"

Billy, Sneezy, and Sooky were the first to enter the space. Don’t get how any activist will be whining (but sure they still would :rolleyes:), grateful Billy and Tina will get to experience this natural looking complex!

Really spectacular to see the elephants given access to this huge, naturalistic setting - which all the elephants will soon be able to freely roam on occasion. Well done to Tulsa for envisioning and investing in this.
 
0.1 generic guraffe "Mi-Na" is moving from Tulsa Zoo to an unspecified AZA zoo.

Mi-Na, our 2-year-old female giraffe, will soon be relocating to another AZA-accredited zoo as part of the Giraffe AZA Species Survival Plan®. The SSP® helps ensure genetically healthy, sustainable populations of giraffes in human care. Mi-Na’s move is an important part of this collaborative effort and supports long-term conservation for her species. Mi-Na has been a special part of our herd. From sharing her birth with the world to seeing her inquisitive personality shine over the past two years or becoming a big sister to our youngest giraffe, Jasiri, seeing her grow has been a true highlight for our staff. While we’ll miss her here at Tulsa Zoo, we’re proud to support this important program that helps secure a strong future for giraffes. : Keepers Jorel and Paige"
