Berlins Tierpark zoo has a very cute pair of jet Black Leopard cubs on display

Are they being hand reared or do they just walk them like they do with the black bear cubs at Bad Pyrmont?

I think they are being mother reared.

They are raised by their mother angie and their father bromo, who was since the first days of the cubs with his family.

Thanks Animal, strange that the father is helping to rear them! What subspecies are they? Just generic leopards?

at the alfred-brehm-haus, most cat-families stay together in order to raise the offspring (if possible).

The leopards don't have a subspicies status. But i just read, that most of the black leopards have much javan blood (panther pardus melas).

They are subspecies hybrids. I don`t think this litter is good news - first, space in the Brehm Haus is very limited and it would be much better if the space would be given to the breeding pairs of purebred leopards, and second, it`s very difficult to place hybrid leopards in good zoos and therefore these cute guys will most likely be sold to the animal dealer Bode and face a very uncertain future.
