Hi all iv been to the zoo yesterday and today and this is the news i have:

gibbons

the new gibbon thomas has settled in well he arrived from draton manor and is a healthy white-cheecked gibbon (to answer all).

Gorillas

I was sad to see that asante is still with oumbie but i found out shes being moved next week :):):)

Bonobos

i am glad to tell you all that 2 of the zoos Bonobos are pregnant and the first baby is expected in 2 weeks. Also i was suprised that the bonobos were locked inside but i found out there doing maintanence and will be finished tommorow. The bonobos will be let out some time next week.

and just a reminder that the going ape event is about to take place on the 31st of may, so bring ure wallets ;)
 
So are they swapping Asante with one of the females from the other group or is she leaving the zoo?

Seeing as Drayton Manor only keep Lar or White-handed Gibbon depending on which name you give them how have they managed to breed a White-cheeked Gibbon and send it to Twycross:confused:

Yeah I knew one was coming from Drayton and it must be a Lar. Great news about the double bonobo pregnancy. Hopefully see two babies or youngsters when I renew my membership at the end of august when all the kids have gone back to school!

Yes ! since i asked 2 different keepers and he has the exact characteristics of 1
and hes been ther for 2 months :D

So can you answer the question as to what species it is because Drayton Manor HAVE NEVER KEPT THE SPECIES YOU SAID FIRST SO WHAT SPECIES IS IT????

Listen all for definet 100% it is a white checked or conclor gibbon wichever name you use and if you do not beleive me go to the zoo and ask the keepers:D

In that case miracles do happen!!I wonder if Drayton Manor have the only breeding pair of Lar Gibbons that produce White-cheeked Gibbons then?

A question (without bias): Is it possible that the new White-cheeked Gibbon is not the one from Drayton Manor? I'm also not aware of Drayton having anything other than Lar.

plees dont be sarcastic becuaze i am only trying to help by telling you all that it is a white-cheecked gibbon i aked 2 keepers eech saying that thomas is a white-cheeck/conclor gibbon that is what i was told by them so i beleive it to be true

i do not know how drayton manor had one !

Hmm. It's possible that an animal passed through Drayton on it's way from one place to another. Also, keepers are only as human as the rest of us and sometimes make mistakes - maybe they just got mixed up.
 
Its been posted on the zoos twitter account that 2 humbolt penguin eggs have hatched. The first on the 5th may and the second on the 7th may.

When i was there about a month ago there was a penguin sitting on a nest so i guess this is from then. :)

I was just on Flickr and there is a picture of a baby bonobo. The photo was taken on the 4th july and he/she looks very new?!

Can anybody confirm that a baby has been born as it was said 2 were due?

i was at twycross on the saturday (2nd) and as usual, the signs were up saying please be quiet due to a new baby bonobo but i couldnt get a decent pic as basically the whole group were all around the parent
