I suspect it will be something more stupid than getting Giraffes back,as the current mangement seems to be only slightly less bonkers and stupid with its plans than the previous ones, that got the zoo it such a huge mess!!Giraffes ?!

Vanishingly few - mostly in private hands. The vast majority of camels in the UK are Bactrian.
Very much the majority, as you say.
ZTL lists only 3 public holdings for Dromedary: Blair Drummond, Eagle Heights & Longleat( don't recall seeing them last year though). Oasis Camel Centre in Suffolk have them i think, probably one or two others, but certainly a rarity now.
Heythrop have Dromedary.
Pardon me for querying this, but didn't Twycross initially obtain 1.2 from Port Lympne? Later a baby( 'the sister') was born at Twycross. The writeup says the new baby will join a familiy unit of 'mum, dad and older sister Afia'- no mention of a second adult female. Is it still there?
