Twycross Zoo Twycross Zoo news 2017 #2

That's if she's still young enough. She has been at Twycross a long time now though don't know her exact age. However its worth a shot and better to have her paired than stay on alone at Twycross. The enclosure would really be suitable for something a little smaller perhaps-though amazingly it used to hold the Lions!
Prepare to be amazed by DK Zoo staff.

F.I.: they also bred aardvark pretty soon after arrival there.

it is this post (merged into the thread as there seemed little point in having it separate): Twycross Zoo - Twycross Zoo 2017 News

Ah thanks, must have merged after I first looked for it. Great news for poor Kibriah, I hope this time all goes well. She looked so desolate last time after the baby died. Hope the 'upgrade' in accommodation helps make life easier for her. I think Batu is less focused on her.

Notes from a visit today;

Snow Leopard cubs, which I saw, are two females I believe.
Orangutans are all together including Kibriah and her baby.
There is one Javan Langur left, and two b/w Colobus.
There is a recently born Spectacled Langur.
Some Gibbons using the outside areas, but mainly indoors.
New Chimpanzee enclosure is coming along- will post a couple of pictures in Gallery. The whole area along this boundary of the zoo is a closed off building site creating detours to reach Gorillas etc nearby.
Mitchie's Tufted Deer-a very small fawn-obviously a very recent birth.
Dholes have gone, replaced with Kirk's DikDik.
Hyaena has gone- enclosure empty at present.

Saw the Elephants- for presumably the last time.

I thought the Kirk's DikDik were in the enclosure closest to the owls and the Dholes were in the next enclosure along. Have the Kirks DikDik moved and what is now in the old Dhole enclosure (or is it empty).

The Ex Dhole enclosure is nowhere near where the Dik Dik were previously! They were in the row of walled enclosures along from the owls as you say! Bat eared fox & aardwolf were in those enclosures a while back! The Dhole were over on the other side of the zoo near the tufted deer ( ex Cassowary enclosure)
