It is fine for the Leopards themselves, plenty of space etc, just such an ugly range of cages. I fear having already altered the Orangutan indoor area quite recently that another upgrade isn't likely anytime soon now. Hope I am wrong of course...

It is often stated that it is wrong to start a sentence with a conjunction (e.g. "and" , "but", "or").
But this is untrue; it is perfectly valid grammatically to use a conjunction as the fiirst word of a sentence.
And I sometimes (deliberately) do so.

Continuing this digression from Twycross:
As a very small child at primary school, the teachers drummed into me that you must never start a sentence with "and" or "but".
But as soon as I reached eleven, and went to grammar school, the English teachers there taught that it was perfectly valid to start start a sentence with a conjunction.

Day 211 - And Then There Were Two!
We’ve been keeping a very close eye on Noorjahan and her four year old calf Esha since our elephants Minbu and Tara moved to their new home at Blackpool Zoo earlier in the year. It’s been very important for us to keep a close eye on both Noorjahan and Esha to watch for any behavioural and/or hierarchy changes.
It seems if anything it’s brought out Noorjahan’s more playful side! They have responded incredibly well to Minbu and Tara not being around, and to some degree are enjoying more attention from the keepers!

The best way to add value to the community is to summarise the content of the post being linked to - which gives people more context and saves them needing to click on the link to find out the details.

That was my fear
on my recent visit but fortunately it was not realised! I saw the baby Francois Langur and there's a very young L'Hoest's guenon too.From the FB; Chimps finally let outside for the first time today apparently. They say a video will follow.
Also the 33rd birthday of female Gorilla 'Asante'. Always think it a great shame she has never bred (having being handraised and is very humanised) as she is the only offspring of her now-dead wildcaught mother 'Eva'.

Only that it is so long overdue and a good number of their Chimps never got to live in it...but its excellent for the ones that have.
I particularly like the third of these photos, the way they are caught in the act of emerging. And I think that may be the 'new' male Kibale in the centre.

From a facebook post photo the last two Elephants are still there- its now taking longer to complete the move than I thought overall. But no updated news on their blog about them.
I would imagine the weather maybe playing a big part now. I wouldn’t want to think I was trying to transport two elephants across the country in temperatures hitting the high 20’s. It could be that it’s just deemed too risky and it’s something nobody could have predicted to have carried on for so long.
Yes, the current hot weather may have played a part, or the crate training and the fact they have to now put them into two seperate crates may be the reason for the delay. Would be good if they updated the situation though.
I will be going to Twycross tomorrow. Is there anything in particular people want me to find out?
