Interesting. Any idea when?Have had an email from Big Cat Sanctuary saying their snow leopard Khumbu will be moving to Twycross
That’s great news, should be interesting to see what happens regarding the Amur leopards.
I think the “starting a family of his own” part indicates that they have intentions to breed them, that’s how I read it anyway.Does anyone know how old the current snow leopard at Twycross is? Do you think this is a pairing for breeding or is it more likely they'll wait to get a younger female in a few years?
That was my first thought, after of course the great news that they where getting a new snow leopard with any luck the Amur leopard Cubs have found a new home so they to could breed again also or as I suspected the old chimp enclosure is being converted to hold the leopardThat’s great news, should be interesting to see what happens regarding the Amur leopards.
It’s certainly something to keep an eye on, I might have a trip down in the coming weeks, does anybody know if they’re accepting RZSS members at the moment? That was my first thought, after of course the great news that they where getting a new snow leopard with any luck the Amur leopard Cubs have found a new home so they to could breed again also or as I suspected the old chimp enclosure is being converted to hold the leopard

It’s not something that would occur in the wild and male orangutans have been known to kill their own young in captivity in the past. Whatever their reason, in my opinion it’s a big negative as it means they have to alternate outdoor space and personally I’ve never seen Batu outside.Does anyone know why they keep Batu separate from the Orang babies? Would he be a danger to them? Has he met his offspring?
Batu injured Kibriah's previous baby, probably while trying to mate the mother, but it died as a result. They don't want to risk any repeat.Does anyone know why they keep Batu separate from the Orang babies? Would he be a danger to them? Has he met his offspring?
VERY, very little space to escape the dominant male. It’s a disgrace these great apes are kept in such confined conditions in 2021 & the sooner they build a new enclosure the better. Hopefully it won’t be long!!Does anyone know why they keep Batu separate from the Orang babies? Would he be a danger to them? Has he met his offspring?
I read somewhere on Zoochat that Bornean breeding has been slowed down so I hope they are taking steps to prevent Batu breeding again. He's done more than his fair share and two of his offspring have been sent to non-breeding situations - male 'Tiga' to Colchester and female 'Molly' to Wingham. His sister 'Mali' and her daughter 'Tatty' have also been affected by his over-representation and are now at Colchester too.Does anyone know why they keep Batu separate from the Orang babies? Would he be a danger to them? Has he met his offspring?
