Tynemouth Blue Reef Aquarium Tynemouth Blue Reef Aquarium news

It's a pretty nice enclosure; though I do wonder if it will be a little overcrowded with the sealion pair in there too.

To be replaced with Caiman or Dwarf Croc? The otters musty smell was overwhelming at times in that hall!

The old Asian small clawed otter enclosure has been converted into a ‘river giants’ exhibit, containing black pacu along with a couple of species of catfish and rays. The exhibit also now features a raised walkway around the back with a small ‘hut’ that has a waterfall / rain feature. The water also has some sort of mist machine floating on the top.

Also, I’m not sure what happened to the sea lions, but they certainly aren’t there anymore - the enclosure still contains 4 harbour seals.

This is another aquarium I've been thinking about visiting for a while, it looks like a fun place with a lot of nice exhibits and species I wouldn't mind adding to my Zoo Life List. I never would've expected to see marmosets in an aquarium.

Yes it’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area, however I should add that the marmosets didn’t seem to be there anymore when I visited yesterday, although the tamarins were still there.

I’ve just realised I got this mixed up, the marmosets were there when I visited but there was no sign of any tamarins, apologies.
