Nice to see this 11 year old thread come back from the dead, isn't it
The Eastern Spotted Skunk resides at the "Arche Noah Zoo" in Germany.
ARCTIC WOLF - Held at 5 collections in the UK, notably Five Sisters and Wolf Conservation Trust.
Information sourced from Zootierliste.de/en
believe there are some Bobcat left in the UK, all private. I'm sure someone like @TeaLovingDave can confirm![]()
Well that's double the amount of holders I know about...!Correct - at least two private holdings that I know of in the UK.
DOUC LANGUR - None in UK. A single zoo in the Czech Republic holds the Red Shanked Douc Langur.
And now Beauval![]()
INDIAN BLACKBUCK - Held at 8 collections in the UK, notably both of Aspinall's two parks.
I'm glad you said that about Arctic Wolves, it's kind of what I thought, they're the Red Junglefowl of the mammal worldAlthough precise ID is unclear, as that import shows definite ID points for both species
Not actually held anywhere in Europe - all so-called Arctic Wolves in European collections are non-ssp animals with heavy domestic admixture.
Correct - at least two private holdings that I know of in the UK.
I know that Park Cottage Conservation had Bobcats, and Likely still do... as for the second place, I'm unsure.
I thought they might be the second holder when it was brought up the other day so Googled them, but according to their website they don't hold them.I believe the Cat Survival Trust have Bobcat.
Maybe that place in Rutland with the Owls??I thought they might be the second holder when it was brought up the other day so Googled them, but according to their website they don't hold them.

I thought they only had leopards, cloudies, and maybe a puma? It's possible though, I haven't checked their website in a while.Maybe that place in Rutland with the Owls??
I seem to remember them having Persians - very nice!I thought they only had leopards, cloudies, and maybe a puma? It's possible though, I haven't checked their website in a while.
They did indeed, I found out the place existed when Chessington sent a Persian there.I seem to remember them having Persians - very nice!
From what I see, there are now 6 collections keeping Yak, but only 5 you'd have a good chance at seeing them - West Midland Safari Park seems to keep them in an off-show area as of recent.YAK - Held at 7 collections in the UK, notably Whipsnade and Highland.
That said, with the Shoebill, there has been some interest whether Leopard + Goat Farm in Cornwall holds the species or not - Todd Dalton corrected an Instagram post noting that there was 3 collections with the species in Europe, with the correction being there was actually 4. Whether this implies that the Shoebill may be held in the UK after all is much up for debate, but I think more evidence is necessary to fully state whether the species is kept in the UK or not.
What an amazing list of species!
That settles it I guess ^-^

Please don't bark up Todd's tree about this though
