I always find it interesting when I see a animal at a zoo behaving in a way they don’t usually. I want to know what are uncommon and unusual behaviors you have seen by animals at the zoo.I will start with river otter climbing trees say Capron park zoo.

Begging and smoking sticks was a chimp called Ricky at Edinburgh if I remember right he was kept on a ship when younger so had habits sadly he's now gone

How would you define an "unusual" or "uncommon" behavior? A lot of animals (great apes, elephants, big cats) are trained to do certain behaviors as a part of their healthcare that you wouldn't really think is usual or common. For example, pregnant elephants are often trained to do interesting and slightly odd excercies to keep them fit and healthy for their upcoming births. Also, otters climbing trees isn't all that uncommon, if you search it up you will find several instances of it.

Like doing things like say an animal was pushing leaves into a pile and then jumping in the pile from a rock. Something like that.

So pretty much funny things that you've seen animals do at the zoo. Even though it's been a little over a year since someone last posted in it, there's a thread for that already: Funny Zoo Stories

One time the okapi at the St. Louis zoo kept repeatedly licking its tail, for like, a whole hour. It was somewhat disturbing to watch, but made for cool photos. It was puzzling so I looked it up to see if that's a common behavior of the species, and couldn't find any mention of it.
