Just a few things from my visit today....

The Sea Lions went to a collection in Holland. I believe they all went together (don't know anymore than that sorry) Pool is still waiting for renovations to start

The Iguana area in Islands in Danger is now complete and the Iguana's have moved in. Photos to follow later.

Dicky the male Okapi was off show all day.

Iblis (the new lion) is off show at present. He is being kept in the den to the right of the house viewing window. Asha is in the on show den, next to him. They were calling to each other and could be heard across the zoo.

A travel crate has appeared outside the Indian Rhino house. I assume this is the one that they will move Batschii to Madrid in.

They are very hopeful of tiger cubs later this year.

Not sure if it's been reported on here already but both Sithami and Thi (Asian Elephants) are expecting calfs in late summer :)

Ask any questions

A friend told me that the sea lions went to two different collections one in holland and the other being whipsnade, can someone confirm that?

I assume you got no news on Okapi breeding?

Thanks for confirming the second pregnancy. ;)

The female sealions all left together a week or two back. But the male Fernandez was seen locked away on Tuesday so it would fit that he went to Whipsnade and it was just the females that went to Holland.

No news on the Okapi breeding front sorry :(

The other thread confirms the male went to holland!

Not sure whats happend to them then. He was definetly their on Tuesday and alone. I only had a very breif conversation with the member of staff. But I asked had they all gone together and she said yes

The keeper said nothing about Jangoli being in calf.

Maybe the sea lions went to two different collections in Holland?

Why are they moving Batschii to Spain:confused: This is a relativley new species for chester and it would be a great shame to end it now. Will they get more indian rhinos. Not many available at the moment especially with WMSP getting some aswell!!!

As has been said on few other threads, Chester are getting a male fron Edinburgh and a female from San Diego

Whats happening at the sealion pool then replacements or will this be the new home of the giant otters?
I went again on sunday and Jangolie was not out with the herd any news on her?

What will the layout of the enclosure be like, will there be an indoor viewing area for the otters, with public access?

Is it because of Jangoli's age (40's) that they are not trying for another calf, or possibly ill health? She has appeared to be a good mother with the calves she has raised successfully.
