Chester Zoo Update from 22/08/2009

The zoo now has 4 Roan Antelopes,also zoo only has 1.2 Californian Sealions now.
The Green Wood Hoopoe and White-bellied Go-Away Bird are still labelled in Tasavo Aviary but are currently still on-show in other parts of the show.
Life on the Lily Pad might be moving into Spirit of the Jaguar before the end of the year,to free up the Joseph Banks Room for another display.

That could possibly work well depending on how they do it (if they incorporate the tanks nicely anyway)

It will look a bit of an eyesore if they use the same green "frame" that is the Joseph Banks room.

I think it would be so much better to add something into spirit of the jag. I remember reading a thread ages ago discussing similar...that huge area in the middle that was supposed to be for launching new models of jaguar or corporate events that never happened!! It is a large unused space, also the area to the right as you come in which is all just planted up..this would make a great place to house some additional reptiles/amphibians. That's why i love realm of the red ape so much because of all the additional things to look at. I often can spend SO LONG waiting to see the jaguars that something else to look at wouldnt go a miss!

Has the female sealion moved on to a new collection or passed away?
 
The original 1:2 came from Marwell in May 09. They then had another female from elsewhere.
 
the roan's calf if the marwell's male+female, while they have started the move to spirit of the jags (froggies) and the same frame

I expect the calf was simply sired by a different male at Marwell.
 
hmmm, i only saw 1 male at marwell when i was there, but just thinking about it, they would of had another since the one at chester is theirs ;O >.<
