Birth: There is a black and white ruffed lemur baby born a week ago - still in nest. There is one ring-tail lemur baby - gender POSSIBLY male.

They are building a shelter for the addax and then when that's done they will move to where the guanaco currently are and then get some Nyala for the African Plains.

The Plains is looking quite well populated now, particularly when viewed from the end up by the camels which was previously inaccessible.
 
Pleased to hear they are finally getting some Nyala. Are the guanaco going in an ajacent paddock to the camels?
 
Visited today - 12 of the 13 lions out. Johnny Junior made it to the enclosure but ran back in after encountering the electric fence.
1 week old baby meerkats still doing OK.
Baby black & white ruffed lemur exploring the outside but not allowed into the walkthrough yet.
6 week old ringtail lemur bouncing around but unfortunately one of the females has been ousted and is currently separated.
No matter how much I encourage her there are no baby red river hogs.
 
Visited Sunday - still only 12 lions out although Johnny Junior has apparently been out at some point. Two of them were stalking a person on horseback - they could just see the head and shoulders moving along above the bank.

Still 4 baby meerkats

Baby ringtail lemur still doing well

No sign of enclosure being made for the guanaco to move yet.
 
Visited today for the first time. There was building work being carried out on what will be the new Addax paddock and speak to a keeper there are plans to add Giraffe to the african plains when the Addax move to there new enclosure.

There was still 4 tiny baby meerkats and there where dozen's amount of Ostrich eggs in the plains of Africa however the Ostriches will not sit on the apparently.

I enjoyed the visit and they have some great enclosures with the lions, lemurs and red river hogs the place has great potential.
 
glad you enjoyed your day , we are very proud of YWP up our way :) its going to be wonderful to see it grow over the years to come they have achieved so much even in their first year , the giraffes will be a great addition to the African plains
 
The area for the guanaco paddock has had the vegetation scraped of it but apart from that nothing else.

I heard nothing about Nyala but they would make a nice addiction to the park.
 
I live quite close to here but still haven't got round to visiting. It sounds like it could be a really great zoo in a few years-something which there is a severe a lack of within driving distance from my house! Really want to see the lions.
 
Very busy again today - I blame the lions - I know it's good but I liked it when it was just a couple of dozen of us in March.

Only one of the lions is yet to spend the day outside - still not got over his encounter with the electric fence.
Still 4 meerkat babies.
The young black & white ruffed lemur is now out in the walkthrough.
The young ringtail lemur is entertaining everyone with his antics.
No new animals yet. Addax have not moved, didn't have time to inspect the new guanaco enclosure.

But surely its good for the zoo! :D I will have to visit this place as I am amazed it has done so well in its first year! Looks like it will grow from strength to strenght I hope they get a few unusuals in aswell!

Will the Giraffes be pure?
 
Don't know, wouldn't surprise me if they are not at the moment, they seem to pick up oddments here and there!
