According to their site, Parco Faunistico LE CORNELLE, Parco Faunistico Le Cornelle in Valbrembo, now has 4 female Indian elephants.
They are housed in a new exhibit near the giraffes.

Their names: India, Madras, Tony and Mosly.
I don't know for sure, but I think they are from Flavio Togni's American Circus!

Is there somebody who can provide me some pictures.
I would love to see this new exhibit, because when I visited this zoo in 2002 they had a very small exhibit for just one elephant.

I am surprised this zoo is not more talked about (as I could say for Parco Zoo Punta Verde-Lignano, Parco Faunistico La Torbiera-Agrate or Parco Natura Viva-Bussolengo)?

They have one of the largest giraffe group around (of a subspecies little exhibited over Europe and which perhaps in southern and very eastern European nations has something of a future). The are not a member of EAZA - as far as I can gather -, but do participate in several EEP programmes.

The programmes they participate in are:
Bongo (Tragelaphus eurycerus isaaci)
Marabu '(Leptoptilos crumeniferus)
Siamang (Hylobates syndactylus)
Brown bear (Ursus arctos)
Scimitar-horned Oryx (Oryx dammah)
Kob lechwe (Onototragus megaceros)
Snow Leopard (Uncia uncia)
Red-crowned Crane (Grus japonensis)
Black and white Ruffed Lemur (Varecia variegata)
White-handed or Lar Gibbon (Hylobates lar)

We have yet to see a review of this collection on the forum.

Not to be discouraged I hope to find out more vis a vis their giraffe herd.
Any news on recent births? Transfers? Arrivals?

There has been some bizarre rumours around: like they had 1.1 peralta/antiquorum and sent them out in order to concentrate on breeding their pure giraffa herd (these are not much around in EAZA zoos, however quite a few Russian zoos are importing southern giraffes of late ...).

I would love some clarification here!

There are several large and smaller Italian collections that has not been covered in any thread of zoochat. I cite the Genoa Aquarium, the Fasano safari park, Oltremare in Riccione, Zoom Turin, and many others. This reflect on one hand the bad state of zoo culture in the country and on the other hand the lack of a national community sharing aims and passions. You should note that the best known collections are mostly members of EAZA and/or UIZA at least.
In June there will be the first congress dedicated to Italian zoos and aquaria. I hope it will be a chance to increase communications.

I agree that very few parks are covered by the community here. Sadly.

Given the proximity of the African continent I would hope the more professional side of the Italian zoo community would focus primarily on niche local fauna, African continent species (aka what Bioparco Roma has been doing of late), savannah and desert type ecosystems and temperate forest communities and East Asian species.

Right, even if regrettably most if not all zoos are located in the northern part of the country.

It has been reported on another zoo forum that Serengeti Park Hodenhagen acquired 1.1 Southern giraffe (giraffa) from Le Cornelle herd. Alas, they may now be mixed with the hybrid herd there unless Serengeti Park sees the light phantastic soon.

Any new plans known for this zoo?
Giraffe? Scimitar-horned oryx? Grevy's zebra?

Rhino Freddy - as reported by Piko - will be transferred to ZOOM Torino.
I am not sure whether people know he is not quite the gregarious type as while at Le Cornelle they have tried to have him mated by females. Alas, this led to infighting ....l

Purportedly they now have 1.1 (Heini and Geraldine) from Serengetipark Hodenhagen. I am missing 0.3 (Cleopatre and 2 other females from Hodenhagen (Amarly and Etoscha). They have only recently been sent over during 2008 followed in the last 2 or 3 years by the above 2 related individuals! What happened to the 3 females?
