Vale Malcolm Douglas

Of course - Rob Bredl would probably be a little annoyed to learn that Malcolm Douglas was apparently the "Barefoot Bushman".

Robbie will handle it - I don't think that he's capable of getting annoyed. We all know not to take too much notice of media "details".

This is awful news about Malcolm. When Ben first texted me about it his identity had not been confirmed. Now that we know for sure, I still can't believe it. This man [and Robbie Bredl] had more genuine crocodile knowledge than any of the TV show ponies that we have been inflicted with. The world needs more people like them and can ill afford to lose Malcolm.

Vale Malcolm - you will be sorely missed mate.

Did you have the good fortune to have known Malcolm, Steve?

I don't doubt that he would always have been good company, and always had a good story to tell.

He was a true conservationist and produced the best documentaries, without the dramatisation many of his imitators have.

At a meeting of the Australian Herpetological Society in Sydney last night his name was mentioned a couple of times in relation to Rough-scaled Pythons.

Another iconic champion of Australian wildlife has gone ...

His death seems to have been forgotten by the media already. I have not heard it mentioned today.

I was hoping it would lead to re-runs of his shows which I enjoyed years ago and have not seen for many years.

Monty - Channel 7 will be running his last doco on Wednesday night. Don't know times yet but presume it will be screening nationally.

They may decide to re-run some of his earlier ones if this one rates well.

Because his docos screened almost exclusively on Channel 7 over the years, the other channels didn't give his death much of a run. Except the ABC which got it wrong, of course! Kerry O'Brien on the 7.30 Report declaring to camera that Malcolm was the "Barefoot Bushman"!

it will be screening at 9:30pm on the wednesday night but because of some complaints about the time slot being too late channel 7 has decided to replay the same doco at 7:30pm on friday night but on 7two.
