Firstly the New Tropical House will Open soon That will Included Reptiles (Skinks and Lizards), Invertebrates and Small Mammals (Lesser Tenrecs).

Then the Zoological Gardens will be Expanded to 3 or 4 Acres, Adding Land onto the Zoological gardens from Behind the Grant's Zebra and Australian Exhibits.

Finally New Species will be Arriving to the Collection, First up is the Raccoon Dogs that will have a Woodland Exhibit behind The Australian/ Outback Exhibit, they will hopefully be Arriving in the Spring 2017

The New Tropical House Named "Critter Cove" will NOW housed 18 Different Exhibits that will houses a variety of invertables, snakes, lizards and amphibians but they are way behind on the opening, there is still a sign on the door that says "Coming soon" with pictures of Snake (Corn Snake?), lesser or greater tenrec and a Blue tongued skink.

Also the Logo has changed, now with grass behind the orignal logo

I know somebody who donated his father's fossil collection to the Horniman Museum. There is a notice saying that the collection will become part of a new geology section that will open later in the year. The notice has been there since about 1982.

The zoo has posted a photo on there Facebook of some baby Racoon Dogs born over the weekend. From what I can see there are atleast 9 pups.

Are these now on site? And does anyone know if the expansion is now being worked on?
Hopefully this collection can live up to its potential and the owner can continue with the (very exciting) future developments.

Announced on Facebook last week that the Cuban Hutias have bred again

Four Greater Tenrecs have been born, the first breeding since they went on display

Visited today as I was driving through the area and didn't any of the above at either site, although they may have been offshow.

Van Hage have lost their zoo licence so the site now only houses domestic animals - chickens, goats, ferrets etc.

Visited Ventura today, there's not been much expansion since my visit last year, apart from Critter Cover which is really nice and houses some nice reptiles. One new exciting addition is the pair of red-rumped agoutis they now have mixed in with the hutia.
