Just a few notes from today`s visit, the Wrinkled Hornbill`s female and chick broke out of the nest today and both looked to be doing fine, also another female Onager has arrived from Whipsnade in the last few weeks anong with yet another female Bactrian Camel, but I cannor rember where from.2 glass Vivs are been put in the Tropical Realm. The Tree Shrews have gone off show and their enclosure is been converted to house a species of Reptile, not sure which but suspect it could be the Mangrove Monitors. Also the Warty Pigs in the enclosure by the Bats have 3 young piglets.I`m sure their was other news that I`ve forgotten;).

Glad to hear the Hornbill chick is doing well.

There has been another recent birth you haven't mentioned, although I'm not sure it's public knowledge just yet?

I`ve not mentioned alot of things including a birth because I have been told not to so until I`m told otherwise thats the way it will remain!

Interested in this birth..must be a high profile species if being kept hush-hush for the tim being :)
Great news about more Camels/Onagers arriving and of the Warty Pig births. The shrew to be replaced by monitors would be for the best aswell to be honest, since their numbers got reduced in the last year ot two, they havent been making such a good exhibit.

Same here... trying to think what it could be. I have a feeling that some of these elephant pregnancy rumours might be true.

I will say its not a baby Elephant,if it was I would have posted in what I had seen as the house wasn`t closed and I saw all the Elephants on the day.

Could the stork have dropped in at the giraffe house? Aoife's been at Chester since July 08 so plenty of time for her and Thorn to get together.... ;)

Its the young female that was born their its been moved so that she cannot breed with her father.

Kulan-I wasn't aware Whipsnade had bred a female. A young male was born about two years back when they just had one pair, and he is now segregated from the group. The two other newer females seem to have arrived together from somewhere.

No one from the giraffe team has mentioned that she is pregnant. We will all find out which species has bred if the baby/babies is/are reared soon enough.

We can also count out the Lions and Tigers as no sign of any cubs today and saw both pairs in the houses today. Our money is on a cheetah cub :P

My next guess would of been the tigers! Asha is on an implant and not planned to breed again and I don't think Kinky has been in with the boys yet?

Just purely speculation, but Jags perhaps? They have had unsuccessful litters in the past, which is perhaps why no annoucement over a birth can be made just yet...

Not sure considering they were only together a month or so ago, would of thought that once he had done his business they would seperate them again.

There is a few other options no one has mentioned yet thou!

I think she has been mixed with one of the males the one that she is unrelated too a few times in the last few months for short periods. We were thinking whether it could be another Orang or Chimp? Also today both the Tapir were on show and no sign of any young Tapir so another species of the list. We did see a baby Mandrill though :P
