Chester Zoo visit 25th November

I agree with pt123 about the back corridor not been re-opened any time soon,at the moment it house nothing at all and is completely empty,it was closed because the zoo was having a real problem maintaining a stable temperature within the exhibits for the Reptiles.

It seems that the space for Chester's reptile collection in the Tropical Realm has gradually dwindled over the last 10 years or so, with the gallery area being closed, and the new building work being done in there. But then, there have been more smaller reptile exhibits opening all over the Zoo: ROTRA; the Okapi house; Spirit of the Jaguar, etc. So they just seem to be spreading the collection out across the Zoo.
In Islands in Danger, it would seem to make more sense to put the Iguanas in the smaller female Dragon area, and have the Dragons in the larger male area.

They're not in there yet, they've not even started building in the smaller female exhibit which is where the iguanas will be.

I think she was trying to say they are putting the Iguanas in the female enclosure, and not the males, as there were a few posts before saying it would be the other way round.

It's also worth remembering that a large percentage of the reptile collection is held upstairs in the tropical realm, off show, behind the upper aviaries. The facilities upstairs are much more modern than the old rows of vivariums and it was inevitable that most of these would eventually be closed off.

That is what I thought she intended to say.

The notice about the re-development was in the male Komodo's enclosure, but the work is to take place in the female Komodo's enclosure, as Zoogiraffe and I first thought.
