Just found an article on twycross zoos news page relating to the visit Britain, annual survey of visits to visitor attractions,
Twycross Zoo named as one of the fastest growing Zoo and Wildlife attractions by Visit England | Twycross Zoo
It makes intresting reading on the article it’s self to see the impact the recent investment to the zoo is making with an increase of 15% visitor numbers from the 2017 / 2018 period even more so if you look into the source of the article,
Annual Survey of Visits to Visitor Attractions: Latest results
Where some of the zoo chats favourites have not had such a good past twelve months, particularly in the south for some reason, Bristol -9%, Exmoor -11%, Paignton -11% and Whipsnade -8% only Chester +6% and London +3% seam to have improved visitor numbers on what was one of the best summers we had I ages from memory. Given these figures it’s no wonder twycross is publicising this news as the national attendance for zoos from this information is down 2% with out there increasing numbers of 15 % this would have been far worse I fear.

A quick flick through your links shows Banham at +6% and many other very busy zoos like Wingham and Yorkshire, not listed at all... I didn't notice Wild Place or Noah's Ark either - but I have to admit that I only gave it a quick glance, between other jobs. How distorted is the survey?
Did Twycross not achieve these numbers by repetitive massive discounting? Is their turnover and/or income up by 15% too?

The survey is an invitational survey which the attractions can choose to participate in, this is why some noticeable attractions are missing such as your Alton towers, Thorpe park that I am sure would be to the top of the lists, wild place is there though 1% up it does not show how these numbers are achieved, discounting ect or any income. From twycross is point of veiw it’s there to show growth through visitors numbers which they are putting down to there recent investments in the site

Not all attractions are invited to participate....
Are we actually talking about the same year?
Wild Place Project welcomes record number of visitors - Wildplace
I suppose it depends on who you are aiming your figures at, and how you collate them - 'lies, dammed lies and statistics...'
