I am visiting Whipsnade Zoo tomorro:

If there is anything particular I should see or any tips you may have for me then please post below. I am so excited as I haven't been there since 2006. I shall be posting a review of my day on 28th October.

i am particulary asking whether any new exhibits ors baby animals/new species that have been added since 2006. I know of a new cheetah exhibit but not much else.

ps. I do know there is another thread lol :D

Well it certainly answers your exhibit question. As for baby animals, I don't have a clue, perhaps that will come up on the other thread as well ;).

Why take your own food ??

Have a nice day, are you taking the car in or walking /bus-ing round?

Because they are the biggest rip off merchants out there!! 1 slice of pork, 8 chips, YES 8!!!! and some cold green beans, £8.95!!!!! DISGRACE!

Blimey!! we are members and usually only have coffee and the occasional sandwich lol

Thats the best idea, if we go again, Ill be taking my own, makes it incredibly expensive with the car aswell, such a rip off as no other park charges such extortionate fees!!

Just got back, it was a lovely day and I enjoyed it very much. The fees are such a rip off but yet we all found it to be a well established and fascinating zoo. My review will be tomorro on another thread.

whipsnade is a total rip off, bloody 8 chips, plus an extra 15 quid, yes 15! to take your car around

if you bring your car in does it charge you to use the car parks in the park?

Whipsnade Prices.

Whipsnade IS an expensive place to visit, especially if you take the car in, as mentioned above. The 'safari' buses are okay but if you use them you can waste a lot of your visit time waiting at a bus stop instead of looking at animals.

I either walk around(very good exercise) or take the car in if I want to go in the Asian Plains section. Taking the car in approximately halves the time to see everything too, if you don't have too long.

The car park charge is additional to the entry fee because it is on land not owned by ZSL. If you take the car in you do not go in the car park at all.

Food- I agree it is exorbitant for small portions. I always take my own.

Nevertheless Whipsnade is probably still my favourite UK zoo.;)

Agreed food is a complete rip off, but you can take the car in free now, until Feb I think - as its off season. Still gorgeous up there any time of year.

Anyone noticed the destruction of all the trees?

It may be exnsive but its one of my favourite zoo's
It in such a beautiful area and the landscaping in all of the enclosure's are superb. Its very peaceful - It may be expensive but i think its worth it.

what sort of destruction- being cut down?

Yes, lots of them are going. Many are marked with yellow paint, these are all to come down. Hubby managed to speak to a member of staff, apparently it's because the trees are not native.

Terrible really, looks like a war zone in places, the park is so beautiful and that's a big reason why we go throughout the year. It will take many years to recover from this.

Thats such a shame. Trees make a big part of Whipsnade. Its fantastic next minute your in grassland and then in deep woodland the range of habitats for its animals is great.
