Thought id start a new thread for the next couple of months as the previous one was getting a bit full. Visiting tomorrow anything in particular anybody would like me to try and find out?

The red panda cub was fine on Thursday, a keeper did advise however, that it wasn't likely to put in an appearance for another "four or five weeks yet", so don't waste too much time camping out around the enclosure!

I shall wait until she ventures out more before even attempting to spot her. Got my new monopod today, so next Saturday should be fun. Tragopans, here I come :D.

Also, could anybody ask about Okapi introductions and if there are any pregnancies/births recently? (Any areas, more-so mammals though). Thanks :)

I shall have a look, but not sure I should put it on here because it is not the zoos policy to announce pregnancies.

At the zoo right now, new giraffe is called Faida, photos coming later.

If you are unsure about posting then just leave it Haz, I'll be able to ask myself on Saturday anyway. Enjoy the rest of your day :).

Visit 5/9/2010

Back now. As you know the new Giraffe is called Faida, she is about 2 years old and arrived in the week. She looks quite different to the other giraffes, with a dark face and redder 'spots'. Here is a picture of her:

I also have photos of Tragopans and Dwarf Mongooses in the gallery. Sorry about poor image quality as I only have a little digital camera.

I dont believe its of a poor quality! She really does look fantastic, I look forward to seeing her. Thanks for the update!

Nothing much to report from today. Haz beat me to revealing the new giraffes name :P

The Chelsea flower show exhibit seems to be complete now in the Tropical Realm.

Also noticed today that Franka can definely hold her own against Sangay managed to capture this shot today.

Just a shame I couldnt get Sangay more into the frame but it was happening so quickly and didn't get chance.

Any indication when the last 2 hybrid giraffe are planned to leave for Blair Drummond? Are there plans to renovate the Giraffe House inside at some time (I found it a little bit sub-standard on my visits)?

Nota bene: I do not mean the primate exhibits at the front ...! I refer to the giraffe stalls themselves and the separation from visitors / general public.

Kelly and Bella should be gone by the end of September if all goes to plan. To my knowlage there is no plans to refurbish the current giraffe house as the herd will have a new house and paddock built for them with the Natural Vision project.

Has anyone seen Thi recently? I forgot she was still pregnant. Hows she doing?

Thi is doing fine busy helping Sitami with Nayan. She is actually doing a lot more looking after of Nayan than Sitami is at the moment. Keepers are hoping she will give birth around December.
