Today my first anniversary on ZooCat !
In this year quite a lot of highlights with animals and zoos :
- 47 visits to 28 different zoos in 4 countries from which 11 zoos and 1 country where new to me!
- 2750 posts on ZooChat
- 2556 photos placed on ZooChat
Learned a lot of zoos worldwide and esp. 'unknown' zoos in South-east Asia and South-America are always intresting !
Loads of beautifull photos from other ZooChatters from all over the world, among them a lot of species I've never seen...
Also a few missed chances like running out of time in Danmark to visit a zoo ( maybe next year ) and failing to find some Cape Verdian sparrows which stayed some days in the Netherlands :(.
Also met some ZooChatters in real: several Belgian ones at 2 zoos in France and Zooman at Beekse Bergen and de Oliemeulen during his European tour.
Altogether a very fruitfull year and I hope my second year will become as good as this first one ( but with a trip to Mexico which will start in 18 days I guess this will not be a problem ! )

It's been a pleasure having your input into the site over the past year; quite apart from anything else, you have shared many photos which have made a lot of Zoochatters - myself included - very jealous indeed!

Any plans on visiting UK collections in 2014?
 
Congrats! I believe October 12th was my one year anniversary on the site.

I had a big zoo year in my own small way but nowhere near what you got nor what most people on here generally get in a normal year. Still, it was a blast and I got a lot of new species.

@ TLD : no special plans but sofar I've only been at London Zoo ways back in the 1980-ties so actualy I should made some plans in that direction. I myself would love to visit places like Chester, Bristol and Blackbrook and my wife -being a great Gorilla-freak wishes already for a long time to go to one ( or both ) of the Aspinall-parks !
If I'll go to the UK I'll surtainly let ZooChat know about it ! :)

Today already my second anniversary on ZooChat !
I had again quite a fruitfull zoo-year :
34 zoo-visits
28 collections
15 new ones
Highlight of the year was without any doubt my visit to Mexico and during the 16 days there I saw a lot of this wunderfull country with its wunderfull wildlife and beautifull nature !
Other highlights were my first Dutch Griffon vultures, obtaining a microscope-camera and the many new collections I've visited.
Met only one ZooChatter but had a wunderfull day with him ( and his sister - althrough not belonging to ZooChat ;) ) at Antwerp - thanks again Devilfish !
On ZooChat I've now reached 6550 posts and uploaded 6450 photos over the past 2 years.
Wish to thank all ZooChatters for providing me ( and all other ZooChatters ) with loads of intresting news, comments, lot of fun and beautifull photos.
Keep on posting !
 
Here's to the 3rd anniversary VC with I hope lots of nice photos to look forward to as well.

Blackbrook has not yet re-opened.
 
Yes time flies by very quickly but the last two years with ZooChat were very nice years ;) !

Third anniversary !
Just uploaded my 8000 th photo and this is my 9000 th post but even so 2015 was not my best zoo-year :(. "Only" 15 zoos ( of which only 5 new ones ) and a total of 19 visits.
Didn't met a single other Zoo-Chatter and didn't visit a single 'major' zoo - didn't see for example a single specimen of great ape !
Even so, seen a lot of other intresting species - even some new ones ! - in both zoos and in the wild and with the plan to visit Zoo Prague next week 2015 still can become a good year.
Hopefully 2016 will become a more fruitfull year with more zoos, zoo-visits and meeting zoo-chatters but about that I will report next year :).
Again I will thank all fellow-zoochatters for their comments, photo's, questions and answers and sharing their news, it's realy appriciated !

Time goes by.... today again Dec. 10 so today already my fourth anniversary !
Unlike last year, this year proofed to be a very good zoo-year for me - in fact the best one since I'm on ZooChat !
55 zoo-visits
to 41 different zoos
of which 18 were new to me !
These zoos are located in 4 different countries for which the Czech Republic was new to me .
Met 3 ZooChatters during the year : first I had a very nice day with devilfish at Artis - Amsterdam en later in the year I spend a day with AgileGibbon and Javan Rhino at Birdpark Avifauna on their second Dutch outing and was able - with the help of a keeper - to make them happy with the oppertunity to do some Kiwi-shooting ;) !
On ZooChat itself I was quite active in up-loading photos and went from 8000 to 15.500 but if I look at the number of posts I wasn't very active : from 9000 to ( this post ) 9100 - or maybe it has to do something with the complete site-renovation in October ;) ( in rality I guess I had about 3200 posts or something like that ).
Highlights were many this year but one of them was surtainly spending 2 days at Zoo Prague !
Like every year of course also again some missed chances like running out of time on my trip to the UK so we couldn't visit the Blue Reef Aquarium and the same problem at Hamburg and St. Peter Ording :(.
Altogether however I can't complain and enjoyed the time I spend on ZooChat, reading, learning and sometimes also laughing about the zoo-news, the comments, the questions and the answers from fellow-ZooChatters and also enjoying the many beautifull and intresting photos which are being placed in the Gallery.
Hoping for yet another good Zoo-Chat year coming !
