For the first time at Olching a pair of Hammerheads has bred and is raising 3 chicks. On top of the Hammerhead-nest a pair of Abdim storks has build another nest and here 2 young are being raised:) !
 
Another interesting hatching at Olching
A collared pratincole (Glareola pratincola) has hatched, the only collection in Germany holding this species.

Wir sind mehr als stolz, dass uns im Vogelpark Olching die Nachzucht der sehr anspruchsvollen Eulenschwalme gelungen ist. Seit über 15 Jahren wurde diese Art in Deutschlands Zoos nicht mehr nachgezogen. Umso erfreuter sind wir über den kleinen, weiß-plüschigen Zwerg, der sich wegen der noch sehr unerfahrenen Elterntiere in der Handaufzucht befindet. Schon jetzt ist der kleine ein absolut typischer Eulenschwalm: viiieeel Entspannung und dazwischen ab und zu ein Häppchen verspeisen - das ist ein Leben!

Wir hoffen dass der kleine weiterhin so gut wächst und gedeiht!
 
Last year the park had its first breeding with the Aplomado falcons ( Falco femoralis pichichae ) but the single chick lived only for 4 days.
Now the same pair has hatched 2 young and these seem to be doing fine :).
 
According too ztl they are the only holders of spotted crakes. Anyone know if they still keep them?
