Hi as a family we are trying to see as many Vulture species as possible and along the way see some great other birds. We have tried to use the zooierliste site for more help but seems very out of date. I was wondering does anyone know of any of any of the less kept species hanging around In any collections?

We have so far seen
Hooded, Turkey, Black, African White Backed, Griffon, Cape, Lappet Faced, Ruppells, King, Andean Condor, Egyptian, Cinereous, Palm-Nut, White Headed.

I know there is Lammergeier at Warwick castle but apparently they are not in viewable enclosures and are not being used in displays. Also there is a Lone Himalayan that was moved to a small collection that is 3+ hours away from us.

Any help or any other collections people would recommend seeing will be really helpful.
 
I will have to check on my past visits to collection as some birds are not on ZTL don't know why as they seem to appear then for some unknown reason the disappear but the only one off the top of my head is -

Thank you! I emailed hagley a few weeks ago and they said it went to a small collection in Lincolnshire sadly. Baytree it was called near Spalding.
 
Have you visited the ICBP at Newent in Gloucestershire? Their collection list is not on their website but they have a lot of all sorts of birds of prey and I know they have bred Andean Condor for example.

Hi yes we went there they have a lot of Very nice birds there. That's also where we saw the lappet faced, Cape, and Andean.
 
We found out there is a Lesser Yellow Headed Vulture at Huxley and went and saw it yesterday, Amazing bird! Also managed to see the lammergeier at Warwick recently, And the Himalayan Vulture at Baytree which it seems is going to be going to a breeding program likely in Europe probably next year.
 
I would recommend Safari Zoo Cumbria in Ulverston, they have a really good walkthrough vulture aviary, but the four species they keep are ones you've already seen (Turkey, King, Black, and Andean condor), and the aviary is currently closed due to the bird flu outbreak, or at least it was when I visited last month.

The walkthrough aviary sounds amazing. Will have to look into that at some point just a shame it's so far away.
 
Linton has hooded and rueppels vultures which you’ve seen (the rueppels have a very watchable enclosure though it’s easy to spend lots of time at and were nest sitting when I visited recently) and they have some good other birds including some very interesting hornbills, parrots and cranes.

Cotswold has rueppels too as does Hamerton who also have the hooded vultures. Both of those places also have some good birds - Cotswold has a great white stork area with the storks producing lots of chicks and Hamerton has some lovely owls, parrots, cassowary (including a recent rare chick) and scavenger birds. They also recently bred quite a few frogmouths.
