Walrus in Norway

So, because people were behaving badly, Freya the Walrus has been euthanised. Words fail me!

It's a pretty sad verdict on us as a species that a selfie with an animal is more important than it's life / happiness.

When I read zoo reviews which say animals were not visible, or not sufficiently active, I do fear that some of those people would be happier with dancing bears or someone sticking their head in a lion's mouth.

Many / most people are not like that, of course, and want nothing but good for animals. It just doesn't take many who don't care.

souch sad news she was in sweden i march i wish i wood had time to go see her. stuf like this is only geting commoner duo to peapol not understading how to act around wild animals

An awful decision by Norway. They chose killing her over moving her, or assigning people to be stationed near her (like Hawaii does with the monk seals), or any number of other things they could do. They went with the cheapest, easiest option. The people who kept approaching her aren't going to learn anything from this, either.
