I had a little idea for a topic, and I hope some people will join in and help others. Most galleries are bursting with photographs, but even with so many then sometimes you cannot find an image of what you want. So, if you have any requests then send them in here. I have a few regarding Chester (I have used search and can't find any). I want to show somebody a few old parts of Chester, but can't find these parts:

Interior of the old Orangutan house (any pics, whether it be the viewing gallery, the enclosures, animals in the house etc)

The old rhino house (SMR has posted the only picture I can find, which is of one of the rhinos in an enclosure. Does anybody have any other pictures?)

Meerkats/Porcupines in the old camel house, and other pics of the camel house interior.

If anybody has any other photos they would like to see, post the request and hopefully somebody will have an image to share. Also, if anybody has any of the pics I've asked about then please can post them (particularly the old orang-house/islands)

Edit: Feel free to post requested pics in the respective galleries, but could you please have them as attatchments in a post in this thread, otherwise they will just get lost into the hundreds of other photos after so long and we may double up with requests).

I've probably got most of those Javan Rhino, but I have a collection dating back to 1969 and it will take me a long time to get them scanned. I will do so when I have the time,

Meanwhile you may like to visit my homepage and check the photos uploaded menu for some old pictures from Chester.

Ahh cool. I look forward to seeing them. As I've stated, the old orang house is my priority, but I love all old photos of Chester and am fascinated by what the zoo used to look like etc. Thanks for sharing :)

I have a lot of old photos too, including the ones my parents and grandfather took. Problem is, they're not catalogued or scanned.

Conversely, I have a large collection of Chester Zoo postcards (right back to the 30s and 40s) and they are in some sort of order. They're in the process of being digitised but I can prioritise rhinos and orangs and will PM you a link.

What is the URL Rob? I'd really like to see those too!

SMR please tell me you were to the right of me when we took the Dwarf Mongoose photos. And that you sent the pics the zoo are using in there story.

Thanks SMR :), again I look forward to seeing them. I think Bongorob means his profile page on here as his homepage and click on 'find all photos uploaded to gallery'. I don't know if that is what he meant, but I saw a good amount of old photos on there :). Thanks again :).

Uh, in that case I'm being particularly dense, but thank you for the pointer.

And yes, the zoo are using my dwarf mongoose photos, but then my photos are also on their website, in the gate leaflet, the newsletter, the adoption pack... ;)

I may be wrong, I might have just seen a different batch of old photos :D. Also, I saw your mongoose pic on the site, you lucky devil. I'd give anything to have a pic used in marketing departments at Chester. I have a pic used on the Edinburgh zoo website, so I'm quite proud of that :).

Blue-faced honeyeater - If anybody fancies a gander.

That is correct Javan Rhino. I do have a lot more and eventually I'll put them on ZooChat.
