Thought I'd start a thread if people want to share their favourite ways of surfing for all things zoological, (please include things newer members like myself would be interested in, e.g. Zoolex)...

List of zoo's:

List of zoos - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(I find it best to copy and google the names as some don't have wiki pages and/or their links are out of date)

WAZA - World Association of Zoos and Aquariums - Zoos & Aquariums of the World

Anyway thats a start...

That looks especially good if your planning a trip...

Zoo History

Under our < web links > option we have started to collect links to any zoo related websites that have a historic element or value.

Cheers, Paul M, webmaster The Bartlett Society.

Hello Paul, only UK zoo's it seemed...

Any plans for others around the world..?

Greetings

We simply started with the sites known to us.

Yes. We would welcome any 'global' suggestion(s).

We would then vet the suggestion(s) to make sure there is an historic element, for example a) collection history b) old photos c) news archive.

I have a book called,

"A Tiger by the Tail: A history of Auckland Zoo 1922 - 1992"

It is written by Derek Wood, who was director from 1962 - 1990 ish and is an Englishman formerly of Chester Zoo...

It was published by the Auckland City Council initially in 1992, it would be an excellent addition if you could source a copy...
