Chester Zoo Wednesday 13th May - Planned visit anything you would like me to find out?

Would love to see some Lesser Kudu at Chester, and hopefully the african aviary will be opened soon.

Does anyone have an updated list of all the birds for the new aviary?

Apparently thes has not been a definitve list drawn up.

It may include

White-bellied Go-Away Bird
Hottentot Teal
Blacksmith Plover
Lilac-breasted Roller
Von der Decken's Hornbill
African Pied Starling
Red and Yellow Barbet

all these species are currently at the zoo. As far as I know only the teal, hornbill and hammerkop are definately going in the new aviary

I met a fellow zoo member yesterday who had adopted the guanacos and who had received a letter to say they had moved away from Chester and his adoption was being transferred. The letter didn't say where they went, and he would like to know.
I you want to know pm me.

Re African aviary:
Not open last Saturday, although there are birds in it. I could see lilac breated roller, v Decken's hornbill, spreo starling and hamerkop. I still think it would be a good place to put the dikdiks.

The big waterfowl aviary next door is now almost completely netted. The pelicans are not there at the moment. I couldn't help thinking what a great place it would be for shoebills.

Good news for Writherdhornbill: the Writhed hornbills are nesting, although hornbillcam as ever is not working.

The dik-dik at Edinburgh are mixed with free flying birds in the zoos African aviary, and show themselves off really well, confident little animals.
It makes me think that Chester are holding their pair off show at the moment to introduce them into this aviary.

Has it been confirmed that Chester are getting lesser kudu, or is this more speculation?

Yep it is just people on here trying to second guess the what is going to replace the Wallabies when they cannot put in anything else in the enclosure until the Emu`s have moved.
