Had a good visit yesterday with a few things to note. Started off with the sea lions. Cali the pup is very mischievous and doesn't get along with spray at the moment who is the oldest sea lion they keep. During the training session Cali was winding Spray up a bit and so her session was cut short. The chimp family were very active and playful inside especially the babies. Penguin and flamingo enclosures were closed off due to bird flu. Didn't see the snow leopard again. This is the third time of Mr visiting since the snow leopard had a new enclosure and so far I have never seen it.

The Lemurs were a no show and the walk through was shut off. Emus are now in the old Wallaby enclosure. Both bears were out today which I have rarely seen in winter time. I don't think that the park has a porcupine anymore because the porcupine bed area was empty and the slider was shut off. Another animal which I saw that I don't usually see here was the margay and they are smaller than I thought. I think they have 3 but I saw 2.

On another note. Is anyone able to tell me where the old Red panda and otter enclosure used to be because I have seen photos in the gallery but cannot think of where it was. Thanks.

Have you looked into the indoor den for the snow leopards? That's where I have seen them most since they moved there albeit they can still be a no show. Porcupines were still there in November so that must be recent. The Lemur walkthrough has been closed since COVID I think, I don't remember the last time I saw it open.
 
Yes always look in the indoor area and never any joy. I know the lemur walk has been closed for a while but I have still seen the Lemurs indoors or in the smaller outdoor cages but this time I saw none. The porcupine absence must be new as you stated but I wonder if they will aquire any more.

Them/They ? There is only one male. If you head out when it's quiet around 4pm, you'll see him, He likes to go up to his rocks when the zoo is quiet.

Wasn't aware there was only one right now but either way, they can be used as a singular or plural ;)

"Them" easily passes the "Paul Hollywood in the Technical Challenge test" as a singular pronoun.

"This baker hasn't quite shown the attention to detail; I'd have liked to have seen them spend a bit more time to get the piping right"

I’m hoping that Welsh Mountain zoo is successful soon in getting a mate for the male Snow Leopard, would be amazing to have another breeding pair, unfortunately nowadays the paperwork system for bringing in exotic animals is difficult, I’m not sure if other zoos are finding it difficult now too
The previous pair of Snow Leopards were really active and I was so lucky to be able to see them on most visits

When I done a keeper experience in November, they said there is a female planned to join him, but Brexit/Covid has delayed matters and it's coming from Europe. They did hope it would be completed before the spring this year, but one had been identified.
 
I popped up there at New Year, snow leopard was out when I went to view, It's the margay I normally have less luck with but was lucky to see one of them running around the enclosure about 10 minutes before zoo closing.
The porcupine bed area looked empty then too....
The camel house was closed when I went with a note on the door saying the camel needed privacy, do they only have one now? Is it ok?

Interesting about the camel situation, they should have 1:1 (mother & son, she was pregnant upon arrival). The male that has been there for years Genghis? Died last year I believe.

We saw the mum and son in December x
 
This is the note that was on the door then but It was a couple of weeks ago, hopefully all is ok with them both didn't mean to worry anyone unnecessarily :(

Some more good news, he's a full brother to Cali who turned 1 in May

We've got some super cute news!

Our Sea Lion, Casper, has become a Father to a male pup, just in time for Father's Day!

Here's a peek of little Monty’s arrival into the world!

Mum, Sofia, and baby are doing really well, with inquisitive Monty already taking a dip in the pool!

Amazing. The sea lion family at the welsh mountain zoo are always great to watch and I hope the breeding success continues.
