OK, I haven't been in a while, but this is what I know (from when I was last there - Zoo_Boy will have to correct me if I'm wrong). The other lemur is the White-fronted, and is on the Ring-tailed Lemur island. The zebras have been in the Nilgai exhibit for a long time - I don't think there are even Nilgai off display any more (perhaps went to Monarto?). Not sure what you mean by "patas" - I don't know of any Patas Monkeys at the zoo. And three Asian Elephants? I thought that there was only Burma, but again, maybe I'm wrong. There are also two African Elephants there ... Glad to hear the zoo was looking good.

Geoffrey: The other two elephants frOM Stardust Circus, Arna and Gigi. And there are photos around of them in together so I assumed this has already happened.

Thanks Jarkari, I hadn't heard that. It's good that Burma is not alone.

To answer Jarkari's question yes the move happened in January. It's great that Burma has companions, happened a while ago when He-man died, i personally thought that Burma may of been transfered to Australia zoo because Siam, sabu and Bimbo were from the same circus as her she didn't get along with ther Africans. (just a thought)
On the topic of gigi and Arna i must say they are extremly large for elephants even. Hopefully they will slim down a bit with some exercise. There is only one circus is Australia that keeps elephants now.

Question??? what question did I ask? The circus that does have elephants no longer travels with them as a part of their show. From what I remember sending Burma to Australia Zoo was not an option, as they are handled freely and the Bullen's sent Burma to Taronga after some handling difficulties.

Your Quesion must be here on this thread somewhere Jarkari in all of its six posts, LOL, "still looking" hehe

lol . . .yeah my punctuation must be shocking. . . I must have forgotten to put in a question mark

i didn't really mean to be rude all i meant was that i though you kinda asked if the moved happened a while ago.... kinda
not trying to get on the wrong side of this
Is there any intention that Perry brothers circus will give up their elephants to a zoo?

I couldn't see Perry Bros giving up their elephants for free or possibly even at all, they have no need to give them up.

And I can see how it might have seemed like I kinda asked. . . i think. . . but I knew when the move happened. My comment was aimed at danale, he said, when will they be put in with Burma. . . .

Sorry Jarkari, as for Perry brothers circus though i guess they have no reason to the cows serve no breeding purpose and they aren't dangerous. RSPCA's concern is that the facilities for the elephants. Two of the elephants died in the length of two years and the current living ones have very bad scars.

haven't heard anything on Perry bros recently, have you? I'm interested in this. I know they don't travel but will do appearances and advertising and the like.

Danale, as for the Galapogas Tortoises, I'm not sure, I remember seeing atleast four in the heated room on my last visit or the visit before (they were mating, very interesting)

Please be more careful to post accurate information and more intelligent "opinions". Your claim about bad scars on Saigon and Minyak is false, the facilities for these two elephants are excellent, and two elephant deaths in two years indicates nothing other than old age.

there are no plans to breed congo buffalo. they are being phased out. only Weribee and WPZ still have any buffalo and they are all related, old and inbred, or castrated.
im assuming that the introduction of Arna and Gigi to Burma will be a carefully staged, long-term process, with time-off for both parties until they are fully integrated.
przewalksi horse. WPZ has one of the largest herds of this species in the southern hemisphere, and it may just be that the display group was smaller than usual this time.
answers to most of the questions u posed can also be found in other similar threads. happy reading

did not see any patas?

The patas monkey group, notorious for getting off the island, were sent to a zoo in New Caladonia (early 2000s). Primate ASMP were happy to off-load a 'dead' taxa, except to renter them when the zoo become a member of ARAZPA!

So THATS what happened to the patas monkeys!

Another (primate) species lost to Australia!

No Perry bros was just talked about once in an article after Arna and gigi's move.

That is strange. . . not many people know about the perry's elephants other than those in the industry, staff of the RSPCA or Animal Liberation didn't even know if they still had them at one point not long ago. and from the photos I've seen of Minyak (sp?) she looks to be in great health, I believe it was minyak.
