Just to let everyone know the Drive thru Park will be closed from about 2pm on saturday 5th November this is due to the firework festival (but could be closed all day) some of the walk round sections are open for part of the day check website)

They are also offering this found on facebook (18.10)

We are offering our Facebook 'likers' free admission to the park for 2 people (no other purchases necessary) on 6th November 2011. Make sure you check Facebook this Friday and we will direct you to the vouchers.

Wonder how many new likers they will get before friday?

Elephant bull, Jack was transferred to the sosto zoo. I guess natural breeding is out of the question for their two breeding age cows (zoos in the U.S. are looking for some*wink*wink*nudge*nudge)

Just a little update may already be on here somewhere but the penguins came from Chester and a zoo in Germany hoping to be able to breed from them in the near future as are still to young to do so yet

Will they swap some white rhinos with other parks (given that some do not breed in the present constellation)?

WMSP used to have 1.4, so with the new addition still that number inferring a cow rhino has left for another park .. Question remains: where?

I did remember them having 1:3 when I went a few years ago and until recently so did ISIS although they are probably wrong.

What's the long term plan with the Giraffe? Following a recent visit they appeared (from a distance) to have 4:2. Will more females be sourced and males sent away or are the females being phased out in favour of a batchelor herd?

Current males at the park are

Winston
Henry
Jasper
Behansin
Strider

I know they did used to have females, they recently only had one.

Believe the current plan is that they will house an all male group of Giraffes, and the female will leave to another collection in the UK.
