They've had them off-show for a while now, so it's about time. Also no other safari park in the UK at least has Cheetahs, though Knowsley and maybe Longleat used to, would cheetahs be a good safari park species though.
Cheetahs were kept at Windsor in the past and i think a couple of the others they didn`t do to badly but they did i believe get quite stressed by cars at Windsor.
Its just been announced in the press about the new cheetah plains exhibit at WMSP. Apparently it will be two brothers who i think were born at Paradise Park in Hertfordshire (sorry if thats wrong was just a guess). There move was shown on a tv programme called Safari Park that was shown on Central TV, i think its still possible to watch the whole series on the Central TV website. In the programme they did say they may get females in before they opened the exhibit but obviously they haven't or they haven't been given a reccomendation by the breeding programme.
I'm surprised Cheetahs are featured as a 'new attraction'. Will it be a drivethru enclosure I wonder? They don't make a terribly exciting exhibit, having a tendency to recline flat out on their sides with just their head looking around to see what's going on. Unless the exhibit is designed to make them show off their speed somehow. I think this may be planned for Whipsnade's new Cheetah exhibit.
