Has anyone been to West Midlands recently? They are listing a King Cobra on ISIS and I'd be very interested to know if it is on show.

on the website shows that snake wrangler whose name escapes me showing it on display

They look really good in large groups but not many places keep them that way. I remember Singapore had quite a large group- about 8 animals- a while ago. Only West Midlands in the Uk has a large number like this...

i have been, but i dont recall seeing one, remember seeing a moncole corba, :)

I visited the Park on Friday and they do indeed have a King Cobra on display. This was a first for me although there is also one at London Zoo.

there was talk of them extending the park any new species brought i see they have bred the phillipine deer

i tjink they got their aye aye from jersey i think it was a surplus male

I visited the West Midland Safari Park only a few days ago and they've still got a King Cobra on display. I did notice that it had got a golfball-sized lump along its body though. Does anyone know what happened to the Amur Leopards at West Midland? The former leopard enclosure now has ruffed lemurs in it. Also I didn't see any Yak or Wildebeest as I did on my previous visit 5 years ago, although the Wildebeest are mentioned in the latest guidebook. Is either species still maintained there? Surprised, and delighted, to see Great Indian Rhino there now. Most unexpected.

Zooman64 I hope this helps the Amur Leopards were taken off show at the start of the year because the staff thought it was not good for the animals to be kept in the glass box, they still have the Leopards and hopefully they will be back on show shortly (new exhibit next year).
The Yak on my last visit were in the field next to the African Village if you look up the bank you can see them.
The Wilderbeast I don't know about but sometimes species are kept off show for a few days at a time.

you have to be bloody lucky - they are situated between the roads in a very well foliaged enclosure and Leopards are known for being able to hide behind a blade of grass - there was no way on earth to get a decent photo without being stood by the fence and that just isn't possible there :O(

Thanks for that. The West Midland Safari Park is probably my favourite safari park. It's very good to hear they've still got Amur Leopard. Another query: The Aye-aye(s) wasn't/weren't labelled, but I did manage to see one. Wonderful creatures. Possibly because the exhibit wasn't labelled, everyone else seemed to walk straight past, possibly thinking the exhibit was empty. But are there still Malagasy Giant Jumping Rats sharing with the Aye-aye(s)? I didn't see any sign of them.

The last time I had a look which was in April this year - they were still there in with the Aye-Aye, which incidentally I would sell my soul to get a decent photo of - ooo it's so frustrating :O)
