I mean exotic animalsI am not the person to say this but I believe you should have spent a few minutes controlling and rephrasing your post before sounding as if you are claiming that platypus and brown-throated sloth are not kept at Australia and South America respectively.
So, then your question is essentially "What animals do US zoos have that are not kept anywhere else outside the species' native range?"?I mean exotic animals
Yeah that's what I meant, I should repostSo, then your question is essentially "What animals do US zoos have that are not kept anywhere else outside the species' native range?"?
The sloth is currently off?!Antillean Manatee asfaik is only kept in Dallas World Aquarium outside it's range, the same place as the previously mentioned Brown-Throated Three-Toed Sloth, and while off-exhibit for breeding, DWA also has Crested and Resplendent Quetzals which is also not found outside their range.

I didn't even realize bushbuck were kept in the US. Are they solely on Texas ranches, or do any zoos keep the species?Bushbuck I'm pretty sure.
I thought gladys porter kept this species but idk if they still do.I didn't even realize bushbuck were kept in the US. Are they solely on Texas ranches, or do any zoos keep the species?
This is a surprise, given how they’re somewhat common and how well they seem to do within the US. They aren’t exactly infamous for their specialized care needs like the sloth or platypus, and it seems like at least a few European zoos kept them in the past. So what’s the reason here, were they just deprioritized or is there actually something that causes them to struggle in other regions?other than that there's (I think?) Black footed cats.
