I have had several 'Friendship Requests' made to me over the past months but I don't quite understand what they are, or do.

Explanation please...:confused:
 
Just requests from people to be your friends on here. It makes personal messaging and that easier because their name and profile link is on your homepage.
 
Well I have just accepted another "friends" request, but I still do not understand what they are for (even after reading the above link). Ironically, the only four ZooChatters I have actually met in person (and could therefore consider real life friends) are not on the list! (Nor is a fellow cat fanatic with whom I have been exchanging PM's lately about how we can find marbled cats and other rare felines).
 
they're not actually for anything. They don't have any effects on anything you do on the site. Basically its just one member letting another member know they think he or she is a person they like.
 
I like everyone- unless they are rude. Its the one thing I really hate...civility costs nothing.;)
